  • This is an entry-level position in our Abrasive Blasting department. Employees in this position use a variety of media to blast parts in preparation for painting. Hours for this position are training Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m.
  • 2:30 p.m. and once training is complete, Monday through Friday 2:00 p.m.

  • 10:30 p.m. Specific responsibilities include: * Review customer and Hytek paperwork for instructions

  • Follow technique cards instructions to process parts

  • Work closely with more advanced operators to complete work and prioritize tasks

  • Perform work with strong attention to quality of product

  • Sign off on paperwork as required

  • Other related duties as assigned Essential Mental/Physical Demands: Standing for long periods of time in a manufacturing environment. Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. . Use of safety equipment when necessary (goggles, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, etc.). Often exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.

The Abrasive Waterjet Machinist:

·         Will set up and operate abrasive waterjet machine tools to produce precision parts and may also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

·         Is responsible for the cleaning, periodic maintenance, and pump rebuilding of all abrasive waterjet machines in the shop.

·         Must have a tool box, hand tools and basic inspection equipment management deems necessary.

Job Requirements

·         Dependable individual with reliable transportation.

·         Excellent attendance record.

·         Wear proper eye, ear, and foot protection at all times.

·         Work overtime when required.

·         Follow Mainstream Waterjet’s Primary Operating Procedures.

·         Load water jet with material as noted on the work order using one of the following: forklift, vacuum lift, cranes, slings and/or magnets.

·         Processing various materials plate in accordance with daily/weekly production schedule, including computer programming for the processing of all jobs and shape cutting.

·         Set up waterjet machines to cut parts within blue print or CAD file tolerances.

·         Perform “in process” inspection of parts.

·         Complete jobs in a management specified bench mark time.

·         Maintain traceability of Heat, Lot, and Raw Material Purchase Order number throughout production.

·         Label parts with appropriate information. (Part number, material type, heat/lot number).

·         Deburr, clean and dry parts. Apply rust preventative when required.

·         Follow manufacturer’s specified scheduled preventative maintenance (i.e. nozzles, jewels, water filters, HP lines & seals, machine lubrication, etc.) abrasive waterjet machines.

·          Re-building of waterjet pumps, slat replacement, high pressure line repairs, multiple filtration system, fluid changeover and cleanliness. 

·         Update machine maintenance ledger throughout every shift, with appropriate data (consumables, repairs, garnet usage, etc…).

·         Complete routine production paperwork.

·         Follow standard work safety practices and work in a safe manner at all times

·         Organize necessary materials to move between projects in a timely manner.    

·         Perform general clean-up of the work area.

·         Ability to secure and maintain a forklift operator license.

·         Ability to lift 55 pounds.

·         Ability to apply basic math, fractions and decimal knowledge to work assignments.

·         Good communication skills.

Gate Removal Operator - Lpc-S / 043

MISSION: To separate gating systems from castings using rods or torches within close tolerances to reduce grinding time and other potential rework.

To prepare castings for saws and other cleaning operations by separating gating systems without damaging castings. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Gating Removal:

Objective: to apply developed skill, understanding, mastery of equipment and understanding of the dimensional requirements of finished parts to remove gating system metals from castings achieving close tolerances within one-eight inch or less of finished part dimensions. Finished work products generally exceed tech card standards for cleaning operations. Essential Job Functions:

A. Verifies correct lot numbers and serialization; reviews Technique Cards. B. Operates air carbon arc torch in burnout booth to cut and separate gating systems from parts cuts as close to the part as practical without damaging castings C. Cleans shell material from around gatings using pneumatic tools. (Marginal job function at LSBO and SSBO). D.

Mixes protective coating; coast castings for protection. E. Cuts off, cleans, documents and verifies test bars for proper identification and routing. F. After removal, sorts gating by metal alloy for revert processing.

G. Removes gating and test bars using abrasive saws. (SSBO and LSBO only). H. Section cuts castings and gatings for evaluating by engineering as needed. (LSBO and SSBO only). 2.

Maintenance Objective: to maintain burnoff equipment in proper working order.

Job Description: 3M is seeking a Sales Representative for the Precision Grinding & Finishing Business with the Abrasive Systems Division. This position will be located in Los Angeles, or surrounding area in Southern CA. Job Summary:

The Abrasive Systems Division is a leading global supplier of surface modification solutions with great opportunities for growth. The person hired for the position will lead a US PG&F sales geography to deliver sales results above plan. The person will consult with the PG&F North America National Sales Manager to set medium to long-term strategic direction and sales plans for this complex product line.

The ideal candidate will develop sales strategies and create solutions for complex and multi-faceted customers. Additionally, collaboration with the Technical Sales Specialists to drive customer project completion and sales growth will be a key priority. The ideal candidate will provide input to the cross-functional team, relevant to process improvements and operational strategies to support the overall growth strategy.

Furthermore, implementing sales standards and defining guidelines for assigned customers/area(s)/product line(s), along with planning, organizing, and directing all sales activities within the assigned coverage area will be vital. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Leads PG&F sales efforts within the PG&F portfolio to exceed sales growth and assigned forecast within assigned key accounts and geography.

  • Implements and drives business plan, aligned to the PG&F strategic plan to ensure rapid market penetration of new products and technologies.

  • Determines customer priorities and call patterns to most effectively identify key stakeholders and customer champions to drive sales growth.

  • Supports medium to long-term strategic sales direction for the PG&F product line.

  • Ensures customer satisfaction.

  • Interprets industry trends, customer requirements, and business objectives to most effectively support the cross functional PG&F Team and the sales organization.

  • Acts as a liaison with the Technical Sales team, Technical Service, and customer to facilitate project and opportunity completion.

  • Initiates and lead projects to continuously improve efficiency and competitiveness of customers.

  • Lead cross functional team priorities aligned with the key growth opportunities and projects within your assigned coverage area to drive supply chain effectiveness and manufacturing efficiencies.

  • Develop and execute customer project plans to drive growth.

  • Manage new account opportunities, negotiate pricing, and implement customer inventory programs.

  • Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards, complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards. Basic Qualifications: + Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university + Minimum of two (2) years of combined experience with Industrial products in Customer Service, Sales, Supply Chain and/or Technical Service Preferred Qualifications: + Effective oral, presentation, and interpersonal skills + Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) software and Salesforce.com + Lean Six Sigma experience + Experience in the Bonded and Superabrasives business + Strong team & project leadership skills
