3M is seeking a Film Manufacturing Technology Process Engineering Intern for the Electronics & Energy Business Group in the Film Manufacturing & Supply Chain Operations (FMSCO) organization located in Maplewood, MN for summer 2018. An internship is a temporary position within 3M. Interns typically work a full-time schedule throughout a 10-12 week assignment. This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year. 3M provides eligible interns with temporary housing and round-trip travel reimbursement in accordance with current policy.
About FMSCO Manufacturing Technology: This position is a summer intern assignment with the Manufacturing Technology group within the Film Manufacturing & Supply Chain Operations Division. This group is responsible for fundamental adhesive process technology development, technology deployment, and manufacturing support across 3M divisions.
The person hired for this position will be responsible completing projects impacting new technology developments, cost reductions and quality improvements. This person will interact in various cross-functional teams. They may also be responsible for providing engineering support for multiple experiments within FMSCO Pilot Plants.
As a Manufacturing Technology Process Engineering Intern, your primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Leads structured projects that contribute to process and product understanding of key adhesive manufacturing processes.
Assist and implement Lean activities.
Provide technical support to pilot plant operations
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in science or engineering field from an accredited university
Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale

Bioinformatics Scientist III The candidate will be part of the Bioinformatics R&D team in Clinical Next Generation Sequencing Group and will be responsible for primer design for the development of targeted sequencing panels, pipelines and algorithms for next-generation DNA sequencing. Design assays for custom targeted sequencing panels for external and internal researchers
Understand the core scientific questions and design assays to best address these questions.
Develop, maintain, and operate bioinformatics pipelines for assay design, data mining and analysis
Improve the designs by iterative analysis of the sequencing data obtained. Develop heuristic rules, optimization, and algorithms to improve the design pipeline.
Analyze sequence data and mine public databases for sequence content.
Collaborate closely with the molecular biologists, product management, sales, experimental researchers and other members of the Bioinformatics team
Work closely with external customers to understand and provide the best design solution that meets their needs Skills/Knowledge
Experience working and developing bioinformatics production systems.
This position requires the knowledge and skills normally acquired through completion of a MS/PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Genomics or related field. Three years of relevant working experience is required.
The candidate must have experience in Perl / Python programming, shell scripting and SQL.
The following are also required: hands-on experience with the relevant sequence analysis tools (e.g. Blast, Clustalw, bowtie, etc.); an excellent understanding of genomic databases and their annotations (GenBank, RefSeq, ENSEMBL, dbSNP, UCSC genome browser); a good understanding of the biology behind genotyping, gene expression profiling, comparative genomics and genetic mapping; an appreciation of the use of statistical methods and mathematical models in the interpretation of biological data; experience with next generation sequencing data

do the work in a safe manner by following company policies and procedures. They are responsible for ensuring
that the product does not become contaminated in any way and the equipment is maintained so
