Research Assistant Or Associate Professor Of Agricultural Economics
Reporting to the Research Director, the Research Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics is responsible for developing and/or leading a nationally recognized research program in any area of agricultural economics that is directed towards farm-level decision making. Specific areas of interest include rural development, food security/safety, risk management, climate change and technology adoption. Research is expected to be of a quality resulting in publications in leading disciplinary analysis skills and experience working with layered data sets related to agricultural economics. This is a 12-month non-tenure track 100% research position.

Duties and Responsibilities
Write two to four grants per year and obtain funding for at least two.
Supervises the implementation of the grants/proposals and the integrity of the work to make sure that it is on point.

Makes sure that the data meets the minimal compliance and reporting requirements of the funding agency and university policies and procedures.

Incumbent of this position will provide advanced operational support to the Office of Soil & Water (LDAF-OSWC) within the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry. The Office of Soil & Water sustains and conserves water quality and soil stability on croplands, woodlands, grasslands, wetlands and waterways of Louisiana. This is accomplished by providing financial assistance, administrative support and centralized coordination to the State's 44 Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCDs) who work with the USDA Natural resources Conservation Service to provide conservation planning services for landowners and managers. Provide programmatic technical support to the statewide Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCD), and technical guidance to AES I and II. Meet with SWCD boards at their regular monthly board meetings to develop and maintain local conservation programs. Assist with SWCD capacity building and SWCD supervisor training duties. Incumbent will personally interact with 44 SWCD boards of supervisors and staff, various interagency personnel and cooperators, and will represent the LDAF on the State Conservation technical Advisory Committee.
Work with USDA-NRCS, LDAF-OSWC, LDEQ and SWCD staff and private landowners to administer watershed specific agricultural nonpoint source abatement projects through the EPA Clean Water Act Section 319 and other water quality initiatives. Performs resource inventories on private land for conservation plan development and conservation program guidance, assists AES Manager and others with development of watershed-based work plans. Performs field inspections and compliance checks of agricultural solid waste composters and processors.
Provide staff assistance to the LA Association of Conservation Districts (LACD). Work with assigned LACD standing committees to illustrate and research conservation issues and resolutions, and assists in development of the LACD Annual and mid-year meeting programs.
Maintain and enhance established LDAF-OSWC/SWCD environmental conservation education and outreach programs and networks by promoting and conducting LA Project WET (Water education for Teachers) and other educational workshops and initiatives.
Work with private landowners and agricultural processing facility managers to develop Agricultural Solid Waste Management Program best management practice plans. 5%

In this inside sales role you will be responsible for serving our customers by answering questions and generating sales via the telephone, web inquires, fax and e-mail. The Truss Structure Sales Specialist focuses on proactive selling of the Hercules Truss Arch Building line by maximizing all opportunities and aggressively cross-selling, up-selling and following up. In this position, you will also be responsible for outbound calls to customers regarding bids, requests for quotes and general customer inquiries. There is no cold calling in this position. In addition to servicing your customers through various forms of communication, your responsibilities can include; mentoring new team members, attending industry Trade Shows periodically, working on special individual projects and other duties as they are assigned.

The appropriate candidate for the Truss Structure Sales Specialist will possess accurate, timely and effective selling skills.
A Bachelor's degree or one to two years related sales experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A high proficiency in computer systems and typing skills are a must to be considered for this position.
Knowledge of the agriculture, horticulture, building services or the equine industry is a plus.
Strong internal drive to constantly improve sales skills and exceed individual sales goals.
With our base plus weekly commission structure, our average first year Truss Structure Sales Specialist earns between $75,000 and $85,000. Our team members in their second year and beyond can earn over $100,000 annually.
