As needed, assists journeyman electrician with installing low voltage circuits, troubleshooting alarm systems, bending and installing conduit. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: High school graduate or GED AND the completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the refrigeration or steamfitting trades;
OR Full journey-level status in the Plumbers or Steamfitters Union;
OR Five (5) years of applicable experience in the refrigeration or steamfitting trades or a combination of the two (Vocational or trade school training as a steamfitter of refrigeration mechanic will substitute, year for year, for work experience up to a maximum of two (2) years);
OR Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program for heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
AND* Low Voltage/Limited Energy Electrical License;
Valid motor vehicle operator's license; and * EPA universal refrigerant handling certification
The HVAC Technician is required to support any emergency situations that affect the DES owned properties, both on and off of the Capital Campus. Preferred/Desired Qualifications: * Ability to perform skilled HVAC work;
Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the HVAC trade;
Knowledge of current HVAC, electrical codes, and electrical safety precautions;
Ability to work from blueprints, plans and sketches;
Ability to estimate labor and materials required to accomplish the work; and
Ability to use hand and power tools required to accomplish HVAC work.
