Great attitude, knowledgeable and professional Installer with a minimum 5 years residential experience.

MUST be EPA certified, drug free, pass a background check, have a clean MVR and happy to work weekends and after hours during busy times.

Must be able to figure out complex issues and work unassisted. Also, must be able to climb ladders, crawl under houses, handle extreme temperatures and lift and maneuver heavy equipment.

Side work will NOT be permitted under any circumstances.


Earn up to $80,000 per year, depending on skill level and willingness to succeed.

These positions are located in the HVAC Shop, Facilities Management Service at VA New Jersey Health Care System, at the East Orange Campus. Incumbent installs, troubleshoots, and makes repairs on various refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems such as walk-in coolers, refrigerators, ice machines, freezers, evaporating fans, window air conditioning units and similar equipment. Assists other mechanics on larger or more complex systems or equipment, such as the centralized chiller plant systems and the Building Automation System.

Incumbent works from oral instructions, blueprints, schematics, and work orders. Traces and locates defects to determine the type and extent of repair needed, plans the work, selects the proper tools and testing devices, and accomplishes repairs according to accepted trade practices. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent occasionally lifts objects over 50 pounds and uses chain hoist when lifting heavier objects.

Qualifications Your background must demonstrate experience in inspecting
