Summary This is an Air Reserve Technician
(ART) Officer position. Air Reserve Technicians (ARTs) are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service.
In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy ART positions. As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Force Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

Position also accomplishes a variety of administrative duties related to flight/mission accomplishment such as scheduling, mission planning, AFRC operational training, and mission management. Upon successful completion of training requirements, and a display of successful performance, the incumbent may be noncompetitively promoted. The target grade of the position is GS-12 Airplane Pilot. Incumbent of this position will perform the following duties: * Under the guidance and assistance of the aircraft commander/flight instructor and in the role of a pilot, assist in the operation of aircraft in order to gain the experience needed to become a qualified pilot in the unit aircraft.

Airplane Pilot, GS-11 * Must have logged 750 hours pilot time, in a military fixed-wing aircraft. Airplane Pilot, GS-12 * Must have logged 900 hours pilot time, in a military fixed-wing aircraft.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Position may or will require incumbent to: (1) Obtain a background security investigation to determine suitability for employment and/or a security clearance. (2) Aircrew and management duties may include stress (both mental and physical), exposures to extreme hot and cold temperatures, gravity forces of three to seven depending on aircraft to which assigned as well as the typical risks or discomforts involved in flying any aircraft through combat maneuvers, night aerial refueling, low level flying and other tactics, and short notification for accomplishment of immediate action items directed by unit supervisors/higher headquarters that must be completed before the duty day ends. (3) Must be a rated pilot aircrew member on flying status in unit to which assigned. Must participate in regular and frequent flights as required by the commander.
Periodically, as prescribed by regulations, must take and pass standardization/evaluation examinations which consist of both written tests and actual flight performance to demonstrate flight knowledge and abilities required of the position. Must pass physical examination and meet annual flying requirements. (4) Incumbent is subject to the normal pressures, deadlines, and other conditions inherent in this position and others found in the aircrew occupation. (5) Meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent is assigned non-ART duties not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
As necessary, to meet special or essential unscheduled activities, may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty with brief advance notice. (6) If you are selected for an ART Officer position, you will be required to sign a mobility agreement prior to appointment. Mandatory Qualification Requirements:Eligibility requirements for Dual Status technician positions in this occupation are based on the candidate's possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates
- OR- appropriate military certifications, military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment, and the required competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: An applicant must have a competent understanding of the occupation's basic principles and concepts. Applicants should have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience in the grade (or a comparable military rank) immediately below the next higher level.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Is experience that prepares the applicant to perform the Dual Status technician duties and responsibilities. To qualify, an applicant's educational-degree study program, military professional and technical training schools or academies, and aviation certifications may apply as substitutions for some specialized experience factors.
Must have at least two years working experiences in civilian aviation programs; or, military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components); or, in the Army National Guard Aviation Support facility; or, Air National Guard Wing/ Operations Group.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory. A Graduate Degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimum.
Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools. KSA's: Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the KSA's listed below. Knowledge and ability to read and apply mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information. 2. Knowledge in operating aircraft controls and equipment. 5. Knowledge and ability to conduct or supervise crew member training on simple to complex mission specific tasks. 7.

- Troubleshoots service calls with clients prior to scheduling the repair call.
- Schedules calls in a timely and efficient manner, follows up on all service calls, and enters follow-up information in Navision.
- Ensures that vendors provide estimates when requested, the estimates are entered into the service call system, and the vendors turn in the appropriate paperwork.
- Processes invoices accurately and timely. Investigates and locates the best value in vendors.
- Greets and assists customers; answers incoming calls quickly and professionally; makes follow up calls to customers.
- Inputs and retrieves data from the Acton computer systems.
- Obtains lease agreements and certificates of insurance from vendors and clients if applicable.
- Purchases supplies; ensures the office is well maintained and clean, files are up to date, and supplies are available.
- Maintains client, trailer, and vendor files.
- Handles incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
- Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of dispatch & customer service related experience as well as 3 years related administrative experience.
