STATEMENT OF JOB
The Boiler Operator operates 400 hsp boiler to generate heating and processing steam, sampling and testing water from the boiler and boiler feed lines, making manual adjustments of valves to correct steam pressure, fuel-air ratio and regulating water entering the boiler house and manufacturing areas. Maintains daily log on test results, regenerates Zeolite water softeners, performs emergency minor repairs and blows down boilers daily. Operates Murray boiler when Keeler boiler is down for maintenance by monitoring charts and switching fuel supply from gas to propane as directed. Monitors, controls and assures proper chemical supply in waste water treatment plant.

Must be 18 years of age and have a HS Diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read and follow written and oral instructions. Must have good mechanical ability, be able to climb, work in elevated levels and awkward positions and must be able to lift average to heavy weights. Boiler/pressure vessel certification(s) a plus.
1.Collects water samples (2) from the boiler and boiler feed line and performs routine tests by observing points or color changes as solutions are mixed and added. Tests are performed to determine alkalinity, total dissolved solids and phosphates. Results are recorded on Water Analysis sheets. Water is treated so as to bring it within prescribed limits for water softness.
2.Prepares Boiler Plant summary sheet, performance log and makes calculations such as efficiency and evaporation rate according to established formulas. Prepares daily Industrial Discharge data sheet.
3.Regenerates Zeolite water softeners by back washing filters, preparing salt brine, according to established procedures.
4.Operates boiler by performing a variety of operations such as manipulating valves that control steam used in production, checking items such as water and air temperature, and recording on Data Sheets.
5.Performs emergency minor repairs on pumps such as tightening, packing.
6.Daily backwashes filter.
7.During power failures, notifies production areas when there will be steam interruption if anticipated.
8.Insures proper operation of waste control equipment by checking caustic and acid pumps to insure their operation, checking caustic and acid tank levels and line to locate leaks. Places sample jug at pumping house outlet daily to collect sample for testing.
9.Monitors waste control panel by reading outlet and inlet pH monitors. Caustic and acid barrels level indicators and caustic tank temperature, and insures automatic equipment is operating. Also monitors outfall lift pumps, including determining exceptions to prescribed limits of outfall.
10. Repairs or troubleshoots pollution equipment or calls in Maintenance or Waste Control personnel for assistance.
11. Contacts natural gas and fuel suppliers for procurement in the event of fuel interruption.
12. Charges lime softener by filling tank with water and lime and other chemical daily.
13. Takes sludge sample from Graver Tank and determines % of sludge in boiler feed water daily.
14. Performs safety inspections to insure safe boiler operation by such activities as manually lifting the high pressure relief valves and low water cut out switch by lowering the water level in the boiler.
15. Assist boiler relief operator during boiler inspection and preparation.
16. In the event of fuel interruption, have the ability and training to change over the fuel requirement.
17. Performs housekeeping and related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Use computer, EMS software, optical flatness, metal/shoulder lap, diamond lap, paper polish lap, complex custom proprietary inspection and manufacturing equipment, precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
Order, inspect, and maintain accurate EMS inventory records for all tooling.
Solely responsible for Hydropad dimensional accuracy using complex custom proprietary inspection equipment and techniques.
Must be able to perform at least one of the following duties to prepare component parts for use in the assembly of mechanical shaft seals, such as: bead blasting, tool stamping, Teflon application hand deburring, tumble deburring, spring forming, washing and drying parts or O-ring oil slick operations.
Remove burrs and rough surfaces from metal parts with hand file or other deburring equipment.
Set up and operate grit and bead blasting equipment per written instructions.
Wash and dry parts with automatic machines.

The primary purpose of this role is to assist machine operators in the pressroom and operate a wide range of finishing equipment: folders, cutting systems, saddle stitchers, letter-press and small finishing equipment, to meet or exceed customer expectations with regard to quality, cost and timely delivery. This position requires the Operator to be detail orientated and have a strong mechanical aptitude.
Essential Job Functions:
Insure efficient and cost effective operation of equipment
Interpret and follow direction from a work ticket
Interpret layouts and ticket information
Check that correct paper is issued and the correct count
Assist with equipment make ready and set up
Assist in mounting plates and other items needed to process work
Assist in the overall set up of the equipment, such as sheet size, coatings, blankets, etc.
Check work against layouts, proofs and ticket information
Assist in wash up between jobs
Fill out necessary paper work and records (check list, maintenance log, stock usage, etc.)
Monitor product quality
Trouble shoot and perform adjustments and repairs as needed
Follow daily schedule to meet delivery dates
Insure all equipment and company procedures are followed
Mechanical aptitude to set up and operate: MBO, Stahl & Polar Equipment systems or similar models from other manufacturers
Skills, Educational & Physical
High School education or equivalent professional experience
Basic math skills
Self-motivated with strong mechanical trouble shooting abilities
Ability to work in a fast paced production environment
Ability to work well with co-workers in a team environment
Ability to operate computer based technology
Constant standing and/or walking
Frequently lift up to 40 lbs.
Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Frequently squat or kneel
Willingness and ability to work second shift, 2 to 10 pm, or third shift, 10 pm to 6 am

Position Responsibilities1. Follow all safety rules and support leads in accomplishing KPI's.2.
Maintaining Skill Based System (SBS) to include keeping in communication with your lead and trainer on driven the system. You will accomplish this by ensuring your individual progress, direction, and coordinating any/all training through your lead.3. Ensure that you are a part of accomplishing team goals.4.
Assist your team members with any/all needs around the job.5. Listen and communicate with all team members.6. Communicate all pertinent information of safety, quality, and mechanical issues to designated lead.7.
Immediately notify lead of any variances in the mobile equipment and position areas.8. Operate mobile equipment and/or lines as efficiently as possible.9. Keep all mobile equipment inside and out free of debris, trash, and improperly stored items.10.
Fill out daily mobile equipment inspection sheet; report any non-compliance items to lead.11. Consult run plan with lead and stage greensheet pallets, WIP, finished pallets, etc.12. Perform quality checks to maintain our quality standards.13.
Remove pallets from the line and stage in staging areas.14. Ensure all pallets are in place prior to shift being over.15. Empty dumpsters.16.
Ensure no downtime has occurred due to pallet handling.17. Report any/all damage and/or incidents to the lead immediately.18. Assist in the efforts to reduce wash-up, size changes, and/or any/all delay categories.19.
Keep accurate records FIFO (first in first out)20. Accurately complete any/all paperwork required.21. Work on items from downtime list as time prevails.22.
Work smart not harda. Every move that we make should have a purpose. Whether we are on foot or on mobile equipment.
Traveling with an empty forklift is a good example of a bad habit for time management. The whole forklift area of how well we stay ahead is based upon how well we are with time management.23. Cost reduction by:a.
