Anesthesiologist Pain Management Physician: The Syracuse VA Medical Center, a 106-bed tertiary hospital is building a brand new freestanding Pain Management Clinic and Treatment Suite and has an opening for a full-time (40 hours a week) Anesthesiologist Pain Management Physician. The Pain Management Section includes three Anesthesiologist Pain Management Physician positions, 2 Advanced Practice Providers, a dedicated Nurse Case Manager, and extensive procedure support staff. Pain management procedures that require operating room capability have access to the Medical Center's new OR suite that was part of a $95 million dollar clinical addition. The Syracuse VA Medical Center has an active affiliation with the State University of New York Upstate Medical University (SUNY UMU) where over 650 of their students, residents, interns, and fellows receive training each year. The successful candidate will be board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology, have BLS/ACLS, and must be eligible for an academic appointment with our affiliate SUNY UMU. Basic Requirements: * Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.

  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

  • Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

  • Physical requirements outlined below.

  • Fellowship trained in Pain Management.

  • Board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology. * BLS/ACLS certification.

  • Must be eligible for an academic appointment with our affiliate SUNY Upstate Medical University. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The Anesthesiologist will provide anesthesia services to all patients of all age, with possible multiple diseases, trauma, pregnancy or other complications, independent of financial status or ethnicity.
