This position will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities in the Stamping, and Annealing Departments for the manufacturing of stator and rotor laminations.
1.Establish Safe Operating Procedures appropriate for a Stamping and Heat Treating Operation. Insure adequate Safety Training is provided, enforce Safety Rules and Policies.
2.Support and Administer the Plant's 5S and Continuous Improvement Efforts.
3.Lead initiatives to improve the Quality and Cost position of the operation.
4.Guide, motivate and direct associates working in the Stamping and Annealing Departments.
5.Plan workforce requirements and establish production priorities to ensure product delivery requirements are met.
6.Coordinate with Internal Supplier and Customer Departments to schedule production.
7.Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, and Best Management Practices. Ensure appropriate training is effectively given to all associates.
8.Insure products and processes conform to specifications and direct adjustments of processes, dies and machinery to meet specifications and improve capabilities.
Bachelor's degree from four year college or university preferred.
Two to three years experience required to include time spent as a Supervisor to become familiar with products, methods, and techniques.
Requires the ability to read and understand principles with complex drawings; use of precision measuring instruments and PC to input data; interpretation requires advanced skills knowledge.
Must be able to handle numerous responsibilities at once, must be able to listen to and address any problems that may arise.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Analyzes and defines electrical equipment problems to improve quality and productivity, to repair damaged equipment, to save money and to improve production line up-time.
2.Re-designs, re-engineers and/or retro-fits electrical equipment that needs upgrading is damaged poorly designed or is incorrectly used in order to improve quality and productivity, to save money and to improve production line up-time.
3.Investigates and analyzes electrical problems, defines and scopes projects, makes engineering drawings or layouts, writes engineering reports, makes cost estimates, obtains bids, writes work orders, makes recommendations to management, obtains approval to purchase necessary equipment and materials, and works with Maintenance and Operations personnel to retro-fit and install.
4.Studies electrical requirements, maintenance manuals and maintenance procedures to design and establish a Preventative Maintenance program to increase equipment up-time. Coordinates all Productive and Preventive activities and insures all maintenance work is satisfactorily completed as assigned.
5.Communicates and coordinates with Maintenance personnel to provide technical expertise and support on the full-range of maintenance projects and programs to reduce maintenance costs, to avoid costly downtime and to increase equipment utilization.
6.Defines, prepares and controls work order jobs. Prepares work instructions, orders and secures spare parts for jobs to be completed to insure the orderly and efficient utilization of maintenance manpower and materials.
7.Provides for and ensures the timely, accurate and efficient administration and control of the spare parts (electrical) program-assures that all spares which are essential for the orderly and efficient operation of the plant are either inventoried on site or are readily available for delivery through equipment vendors in order to avoid unnecessary downtime waiting for spare parts.
8.Assists Operations and Maintenance with troubleshooting and repairs of Pollution control Equipment in order to meet EPA rules and regulations.
9.Follows OSHA regulation as it applies to engineering design, construction, maintenance and equipment installation to assure compliance to safety and health requirements.
10. Keeps abreast of new equipment and techniques by reading appropriate journals, associating with professional organizations, trade organizations, colleagues, equipment vendors, service companies, consultants, and government agencies, and attending conferences, training courses and continuing education courses as appropriate.

Material Control in ensuring on-time delivery of product.
10. Customer Claims and Complaints
Customer claims or complaints received from customer, field or
inside sales to be reviewed, analyzed and dispositioned within
72 hours. In case of situations requiring customer visits,
these dispositions to be done within 2 to 3 weeks of the
initial claim notification. This also involves follow up and
dispositioning of returning material.
11. Customer visits (visits to customer locations/customer visits
to the company). Visits to be included are initial visits for
establishing customer specification requirements, follow up
visits for product evaluation and visits for evaluating
claims and complaints.
12. Customer Support
This support activity mainly involves technical support
offered to the customer involving new products or product
sold by the company to the customer. 13. Melt Shop/Hot Mill/Cold Mill/Long Products internal quality review & analysis.
14. This section of QC is responsible for reporting productivity
status and managing special in-house projects.
15. Internal Quality- Analyzes quality by line, crew, data
collection. Assists in determining appropriate corrective

The Sr. Heat Treat Engineer provides engineering process solutions to resolve production problems within the Heat Treat processes. Metallurgy and process control knowledge is required to successfully evaluate and continuously improve the Heat Treat process with the goal of reducing cost of quality, operating expense, minimizing variances and increasing throughput.
Sr. Heat Treat Engineer Responsibilities
- Oversee and provide substantial engineering/technical support for the operations:
- Evaluates NCR history and identifies marginal parts

Responsible for performing a variety of heat treat functions on parts made of various alloys to promote change of physical properties of various metals for toughness and strength.

Performs a variety of heat treat functions involving typical operations as hardening, stress relieving and annealing according to according to blueprints, specifications, and/or special instructions.
Sets furnace temperatures and periodically checks for proper setting.
Responsible for minor furnace repairs such as changing thermocouples, loading baskets and/or liners with little or no supervision.

Weighs parts to produce part counts.

The Supervisor leads the execution of plans for his/her area of responsibility. Monitors and keeps production running with the task of maximizing productivity and quality. Also, engages the team to drive a continuous improvement culture by utilizing AOS to eliminate waste, overburden, and variability in manufacturing processes. This position is a role model for safety demonstrating behaviors that aligns with the Aleris safety principles and holds the team accountable for results. Provides leadership, direction, coaching, and development to motivate and sustain high levels of employee performance.
Health, Safety, & Envionmental
Leverage the Aleris Safety System and Safety Principles to create a zero injury culture.
Support the implementation of processes that reveal safety hazards, and develops sustainable corrective actions.•Ensures that company policies and procedures are being executed by his/her team in order to ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Ensures the team is being retrained on the relevant safety procedures at least once a year.
Operations•Ensure that the daily production goals for throughput, quality, target date and cost are being achieved by his/her team.•Ensures that a safe job execution has priority over a quick job execution.•Conducts capacity planning and resource allocation for short and medium term production demands.•Ensures the availability of materials needed to complete production requirements.•Participates in and conducts Safety and Production meetings.•Ensures that quality requirements, sample taking, documentation and report keeping are being executed by his/her team.
Ensures deviations from the standard process are effectively communicated to the relevant people/functions.
Monitors correctness of material used for production.
Engages with his/her team to develop and implement standard work.
Engages his/her team to drive a continuous improvement culture by utilizing AOS to eliminate waste, overburden, and variability in manufacturing processes.
Participates in productivity and quality improvement projects.
Supports developing solutions for cost reduction and yield improvement.
Management and Leadership
Inspires employees to perform at high levels.
Sets and communicates clear performance standards and holds direct reports accountable for results.
Conducts performance appraisals and maintains performance metrics to monitor employee results; identify and initiate improvements for development and/or training.
Provides on-going coaching, feedback, and development to increase employee performance and production.
Communicates effectively with direct reports and resolves conflicts within and between individual team members.
High School degree is required.
At least 5+ years related work experience with leadership responsibility.• Is technically competent and capable of backfilling team members.•Has the ability to nderstand the manufacturing process and has technical knowledge to ensure product quality and flow.•Has the ability to understand how activities impact cash conversion, EBITDA and other key financial metrics.• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety policies and procedures, HR policies, standard work documents, maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, charts, etc.
College or University degree
Molten Metal, Rolling and annealing or coil coating experience, or other metals background/experience is desired.
