ESSENTIAL DUTIES


& RESPONSIBILITIES Duties are performed individually or with one or more members of the Furnace Rebuild crew. In working alongside the crew, the Furnace Rebuild Operator is responsible for the accurate completion of the following activities: * Participates in the continuous improvement process by making suggestions to Supervisors and Leads.

  • Individual must perform to Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Procedures to maintain material flow to internal and external customers.

  • Recognizes and controls the hazards associated with the work and properly responds to unexpected safety and/or environmental situations

  • Recognizes materials and break downs to accurately determine the cause and take appropriate corrective action.

  • Plans and inspects work

  • Safely performs specified preventative and/or repair maintenance tasks on equipment.

  • Recommends improvements in operating processes, procedures, and equipment, and seeks to eliminate waste.

  • Keeps assigned equipment and work area clean and free of hazards.

  • Keeps lead operator and/or supervisor informed of needed supplies, repairs, or service.

  • Reports operating irregularities/malfunctions which are beyond the control of the operator to resolve.

  • Works with Maintenance and Electrical departments on projects to reduce equipment downtime.

  • Handles and disposes of solid and liquid wastes in compliance with established procedures.

  • Performs pipefitting, rigging, and minor sheet metal fabrication and repairs.

  • Follows PPE and 5s standards.

  • Ensures that all housekeeping requirements are met.

  • Experience with electrical systems preferred.

  • Preferred to have broad knowledge of induction, annealing, heat treat, and arc furnace refractories.

  • Knowledge of brick laying is preferred.

  • Must possess basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Office products and email.

Anodizing Technician I - II

Job Description: Anodize aluminum parts through a phosphoric acid anodizing process and alodining of parts as required. Functions include start-up, operation, troubleshooting, tank maintenance, minor maintenance and shut down of the Anodizing System in a safe and efficient manner so that each part is finished to meet customer and company finishing quality standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: All levels * Apply protective coatings to metal and composite based product specifications using spray gun techniques.

  • Processes aluminum parts through a phosphoric acid anodizing, alodining, processes, primer and paint operations as required

  • Wires objects to rack and immerses in series of cleaning, etching, and rinsing baths.

  • Operates PAA Room related equipment such as oven, pressure washer, spray booth, spray gun and crane as instructed

  • Fills out travelers and maintains PAA log book, spray booth log book, and records

  • Fills and test tanks for appropriate concentration

  • Bonds & cuts test coupons for pull testing

  • Handles, applies, stores and disposes of work related chemicals in accordance with company and regulatory requirements

  • Inspects finished products for non-conformance

  • Understand any and all health and safety issues associated with each chemical used in the coating process

  • Understand the proper utilization of temperature monitoring instruments

  • Understand the monitoring and regulation of tank solution temperatures

  • Understand the Monitoring, Operating, and Utilization of Anodizing Tank Rectifiers

  • Maintains tank fluid levels

  • Monitors tank operation during shift to ensure proper operation is occurring and to prevent product loss

  • Complies with all environmental regulations and environmental reporting requirements.

  • Maintains a clean work area and ensures adherence to 5S Standards.

  • Uses and maintains required department and individual Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Adheres to all safety rules and practices and other company/department policies and practices.

  • Assists with other work assignments and/or may work in other departments Coating Technician II (in addition to the above) * Performs lab tests in the absence of the PAA Specialist and understands/interprets results.

  • Troubleshoots and corrects minor maintenance line finish issues

  • Provides technical direction related to anodizing, alodining, and primer processes to support other personnel when required

  • Ensure conditions of control plan are in conformance.

  • Understands the chemical composition of each tank and its function in the PAA System Other Job Functions (all levels) * Assists co-workers within the department, as required.

  • May work and train on tasks in other departments such as painting and grind/sand operations.

  • Other duties may be assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: (all levels) * Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards

  • Ability to perform lab tests and understand results

  • Ability to understand and adhere to company Quality Management System policies and procedures

  • Ability to understand and adhere to all Workplace and Safety rules/policies and practices

  • Knowledge of metal coating processes, chemicals and various materials, tools, and equipment.

  • Understands the chemical make-up of each tank and its function in the Anodizing System.

  • Must be able to maintain the physical ability to successfully complete Respirator Fit Check requirements and wear required protective equipment.

  • May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).

Coating Technician I * Works under close supervision.

  • Possesses the ability to learn and perform job functions at an entry to intermediate level

  • Intermediate-level of knowledge of: Math (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying) Department documentation Materials Knowledge Tooling/Fixtures/Templates Equipment Processes

  • Ability to read and write various forms of documentation related to completion of job duties such as Manufacturing Orders, Chemical MSDSs, Department Logs, forms, etc…

Coating Technician II * Works under minimal supervision.

  • Trains Coating Technician I * Ability to support manufacturing engineers with new techniques.

  • Ability to recognize non-conformance finish issues and what steps to take when they occur

  • Ability to communicate professionally with regulatory authorities as required

  • Provides specific recommendations and may perform equipment maintenance.

  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of all department processes, practices, math calculations, materials, and equipment

  • Troubleshoots product and process issues making recommending solutions

  • May create/develop new processes and templates

Experience and Skills:Coating Technician (all levels) * Requires high school education or equivalent.

  • Prefer 1- 2 years of hands-on relevant experience.

  • Ability to perform minor maintenance on the system

  • Basic math skills. (Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide, Percentage) * Previous experience performing anondizing and/or chemical coating functions desired but not required.

Coating Technician II * Must have 5 years hands on experience in anodizing checking and alodining processing in addition to the above education and experience requirements. WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Manufacturing environment

  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time

  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones) * Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds

  • Exposed to noise and hazardous chemicals

  • May work extended hours and/or weekends.
