We seek to hire a staff researcher (R&D Mechanical Engineer) with experience in scientific research as well as programming methods for effectively using DOE Leadership Class Supercomputers.
On any given day, you will:
Partner with various research groups, including those that focus on reacting flow modeling, chemical kinetic modeling, and UQ/applied math, to assist these groups in effectively utilizing supercomputing resources to expand our achievements on a variety of scientific research topics.
Collaborate with other researchers across Sandia, at other national labs, and in academia.
The team's research will result in influential publications in major scientific journals and widespread recognition within the international scientific research community, as well as important contributions to the long-term energy and environmental mission objectives of the U.S. Department of Energy.

Qualifications We Require
You have the following:
PhD in engineering, computational sciences, physical sciences, or mathematics, with expertise in high-performance scientific computing, including parallel programming.
Expertise and research interests in one or more scientific research fields.
Qualifications We Desire
You have prior research expertise in GPU programming and machine learning as well as a deep understanding of hardware architecture and C++/Python.
You have research experience in direct numerical simulation, turbulence, combustion, sprays, chemical kinetics, quantum chemistry, and/or uncertainty quantification.
You have a robust publication record as well as experience with proposal development and research leadership.
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.

The Atmospheric Science Branch at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Ames Research Center (ARC) is currently seeking interested applicants for the position of a Research Physical Scientist. This position serves as a researcher in climate science. Research activities include analysis, interpretation, modeling, and application of data obtained from space, complimented by airborne, ground based, and laboratory measurements.
The Physical Scientist will conduct basic research on atmospheric dynamics and processes, including the dynamical and microphysical mechanisms governing cirrus clouds in the upper troposphere, the impact of convection on the composition, humidity and cloudiness of the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere and the dynamical coupling mechanisms between the stratosphere and troposphere. This position includes theoretical and modeling support of field experiments for synthesizing the observational data in the framework of atmospheric dynamics, circulation, and meteorology.
This position includes basic research on atmospheric aerosols, clouds and trace gases, including accuracy assessment of space based aerosol extinction, development of space based direct aerosol radiative effects and the development of space based aerosol typing.
With guidance from senior scientists the Physical Scientist will develop the data analysis and modeling tools required to understand the current primary research areas. The research involves developing complex numerical modeling techniques and innovative approaches to analyze data related to the structure, composition and transport processes important in the stratosphere and troposphere.
The Physical Scientist within a team performs the interpretation of observational data obtained from airborne and ground based experiments and satellite in collaboration with experimentalists and theorist. This entails being responsible for obtaining and analyzing data to apply models to problems in atmospheric science and for innovation in furthering this field of research.

Physical Security Technician (Carmel, IN)

Presidio has an electronic security systems integration department that specializes in consulting, designing, project management, installation, and service of small to large integrated Security Access Control and Video Surveillance systems. We are looking for a professional, consistent, enthusiastic team member.
Entry level team member is needed for the installation and servicing of electronic security systems including Access Control, Network Camera Systems, and Intercoms. Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Installation of intergraded systems based on industry approved guidelines
Inspect, Install, and repair all above types of engineered systems to specifications and quality expectations
Assemble and program new panels and equipment to ensure proper functionality and operation
Service and trouble shoot systems based on industry approved guidelines
Respond to trouble and occasional emergency after-hours calls
Follows job/manufacturer's schematic wiring diagrams, and blueprints, and installation procedures
Reads and reviews project blueprints as required
Generate proper documentation throughout all phases of a project
Complete and process required paperwork in a timely fashion
Commissioning of intergraded systems
Mounting and terminating field devices (i.e. Readers, Door Contacts, REXs, and Cameras).
Ensure high level of customer service, satisfaction and communication
Follow safety rules and good driving habits
Other duties as assigned
Minimum High School Diploma or GED with 2 years working experience
Previous Physical Security experience is preferred, but not required
Technical and/or Mechanical knowledge and abilities
Must be willing to attend training sessions and mandatory meetings
Must be able to obtain required Certification(s) and License(s)
Must have regular and punctual attendance
Job requires installing devises while on all size ladders, lifting equipment up to 50 LBS, and working in confined spaces (crawl spaces)
Ability to travel as needed
Self-motivated and desire to succeed
Clean professional appearance
Good verbal communication with supervisors and customers
Work safely and responsibly to avoid injury/property damage, and cleans up work area
Have working Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Must have a vehicle that can carry product and ladders
Must Provide own hand tools, work boots
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, individual may be required to stand for extended periods using handheld equipment and power tools. May also spend time walking, standing, and touring medical and other facilities. May lift and carry up to 50lbs. May encounter frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
