FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT The Lehman College Department of Anthropology invites applications for tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professorship in Physical Anthropology with specialization in human skeletal biology with an emphasis on forensic anthropology beginning Fall 2018. Candidates must have an active record of research and scholarship, and a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Introduction to Physical Anthropology, Introduction to Human Variation, Human Osteology and Forensic Anthropology; engage in research in physical anthropology and scholarship involving peer reviewed publication; advise students; provide service to the department, college, university, and community; i.e. committee, administrative, supervisory, and other assignments normally associated with a full-time tenure-track academic appointment. Evening teaching may be required. The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system.
Lehman is the only four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The teaching load is 21 hours (7 courses) per year and although the college is predominantly teaching focused, faculty at Lehman are active in research, scholarship and creative works.
Service to the college, university and community is part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement including advisement. Teaching is reduced for junior faculty over the first five years for scholarly development and all faculty are actively encouraged to seek external funding. Summary of Position:
The Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patients/residents, maintains documentation of services provided in the medical record and communicates with patients/residents, physicians, family members, caregivers and other team members. a. Employees will report and/or correct any unsafe equipment and conditions to their supervisor or the Administrator immediately.
b. All accidents, however minor must be immediately reported to your supervisor. An Employee Accident- Incident Report must be completed. Pre-existing conditions will be reported to the supervisor and in the Accident-Incident Report.
c. Universal Precautions will be observed.
d. Follow established fire/safety/disaster plans as set by the facility.
7. Maintain professionalism. Your dress is a reflection of the Company and should be neat and clean. You are permitted to wear scrubs, athletic wear, and casual or dress pants with modest tops. You are required to wear a name badge at all times. Friday is casual day and ironed jeans without excessive wear are permitted. Shorts, sandals, open toe shoes, tanks tops and T-shirts are not permitted. Good personal hygiene is expected.
Able to work in office areas and throughout the facility. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, twist, lift and carry, bend, stoop, push and pull during working hours. Provide accurate feedback to the Physical Therapist and make recommendations for ongoing progress of treatment. Assist in orientation and supervision of new employees, students and volunteers. Participate in speaking engagements as requested by manager and/or supervisor.
Demonstrate behaviors which foster a positive work environment and teamwork, utilizing excellent communication skills. Maintain a schedule including weekends and holidays as assigned, utilizing good time management skills with the ability to meet productivity levels and participate in program development. - Instructs families and staff in maintenance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist + Communicates with supervisor and other interdisciplinary team members regarding resident progress, problems, and plans + Participates in resident-care conferences and weekly rehabilitation meetings + Participates in facility in-service training programs + Assists with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area and department + Maintains resident confidence and protects nursing home operations by records, keeping information confidential + Protects resident and employee by adhering to infection control policies and protection protocols + Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with facility and department procedure rules and regulations + Provides community based services such as health and wellness activities as required Qualifications
Meets educational requirements established in the state of practice
Current licensure in practicing state and/or nationally certified as a Physical Therapist Assistant
