FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT The Lehman College Department of Anthropology invites applications for tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professorship in Physical Anthropology with specialization in human skeletal biology with an emphasis on forensic anthropology beginning Fall 2018. Candidates must have an active record of research and scholarship, and a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Introduction to Physical Anthropology, Introduction to Human Variation, Human Osteology and Forensic Anthropology; engage in research in physical anthropology and scholarship involving peer reviewed publication; advise students; provide service to the department, college, university, and community; i.e. committee, administrative, supervisory, and other assignments normally associated with a full-time tenure-track academic appointment. Evening teaching may be required. The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system.

Lehman is the only four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The teaching load is 21 hours (7 courses) per year and although the college is predominantly teaching focused, faculty at Lehman are active in research, scholarship and creative works.

Service to the college, university and community is part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement including advisement. Teaching is reduced for junior faculty over the first five years for scholarly development and all faculty are actively encouraged to seek external funding. Summary of Position:

Requirements:

The Physical Therapist must have graduated from an accredited program with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Therapy and must possess and maintain a valid and current license in the state of practice as required.

Essential Job Functions + Provides treatment to residents as directed by the Physical Therapist + Documents resident care services by charting in resident and department records according to accepted regulatory, corporate and professional guidelines. Records daily treatment charges per corporate procedures. Maintains resident confidence and protects nursing home operations by keeping information confidential.

Documentation will be completed using a company furnished hand held electronic device (i.e. Ipad).

  • Instructs families and staff in maintenance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist + Communicates with supervisor and other interdisciplinary team members regarding resident progress, problems, and plans + Participates in resident-care conferences and weekly rehabilitation meetings + Participates in facility in-service training programs + Assists with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area and department + Maintains resident confidence and protects nursing home operations by records, keeping information confidential + Protects resident and employee by adhering to infection control policies and protection protocols + Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with facility and department procedure rules and regulations + Provides community based services such as health and wellness activities as required Qualifications
  • Meets educational requirements established in the state of practice

  • Current licensure in practicing state and/or nationally certified as a Physical Therapist Assistant
