The successful candidate shall plan, lay-out, install, assemble and erect steel components in accordance with plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. Responsibilities: Use appropriate hand (i.e. hammer, wrench, socket-wrench) and power tools (i.e. cutting torch, air-trigger) to properly measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and erect steel and install all other related items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications. Shakeout of steel into erectable sequence; rig steel members for crane hoisting with a thorough knowledge and use of crane signals; connect steel members; bolt-up connections; rack structure; plumb and square; torque bolts and thorough knowledge and use of crane signals. Be able to guide steel members into position using tag line; pulls, pushes or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by crane; force member into final position using turnbuckle, ironbars, jacks and handtools; align holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member using drift pins or handle of wrench through the holes; verify vertical and horizontal alignment of member using plumb bob and level; cut and weld members to make alterations, using oxyacetylene welding equipment. Education, Experience or Formal Training: Must have working knowledge of structural welding, use of cutting torches and working knowledge of all aspects of the ironworkers craft. Working Environment & Physical Demands: Ability to work in conditions common to a construction site including but not limited to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, sun, cold, noise. Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift. Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds. Climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds. Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Possess full range of motion and flexibility. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Raise, place, and unite iron or steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks. May erect metal storage tanks and assemble prefabricated metal buildings.

Pay is $23 to $24 per hour working 5-6/10's until the first of the year. Must have all tools in hand, pass a 7 year background check and willing to work in a Phosphate Mill. At least 5-10 years experience.

In accordance with divisional policy and procedures, the Ironworker is tasked with performing daily preventative and corrective maintenance on all Roll-up doors, sliding Jail cell doors, metal gates and other metal equipment as directed by the Ironworker Foreman. This may include but is not limited to: repairing and maintaining security and gate locking mechanics for all county facilities, performing sheet metal construction, welding, brazing and soldering on miscellaneous materials for new and repaired items. Also duties include: working from blue prints or schematic projects and other duties as assigned.

Purpose: Performs any combination of the following general labor tasks, and may assist journeymen in various crafts such as ironwork, electrical, welding, painting, pipefitting, material handling.

Work Schedule: Must have open availability any time any day of the week.

Normal work period is Monday-Thursday dayshift while at Manufacturing Facility. Length of employment may be limited to job assignment and/or project duration.

Essential Skills (must possess the ability to) May include, but not limited to:

General Laborer ? Dig, spread and level dirt and gravel using pick and shovel ? Lift, carry and hold building materials, tools and supplies ? Clean tools, equipment, materials and work areas ? Mix, pour and spread concrete, gravel and other material using hand tools ? Join, wrap, align and seal sections of pipe ? Remove forms from set concrete ? Measure distance from grade stakes ? Drive stakes ? Stretch tight line ? Bolt, nail, align and block up under forms ? Mix concrete using portable mixer ? Smooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete using float, trowel or screed ? Mop, brush or spread paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection ? Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint or stucco through hose to clean, coat or seal surfaces ? Sweep and other general clean-up activities ? Grind, sand, or polish surfaces such as metal using abrasive tools or machines ? Saw lumber, dismantle forms, remove projects from concrete, and mount pipe hangars ? Ironworker Helper ? Assist in installing, maintaining and operating all instruments and measuring devices needed for functional systems. ? Load, transport, unload and furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment and supplies. ? Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary. ? Lift, position and secure materials and work pieces during installation.
