Position Objective: The Digital Press Operator role is responsible for the set up and operation of multi-color digital printing presses in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/expectations.

Responsibilities: * Performing routine printing procedures according to specifications, most of which require specific skills and aptitudes.

  • Reviews orders and verifies appropriate stocks and laser die lines are utilized as specified.

  • Pulls specifications, verifies colors, ripped artwork revision, die line, stock, and special instructions.

Verify the press is set up correctly and safely at the start of each shift. Check the die and stock temperatures with infrared gun and temperature sticks before running press.

Operate the forging press at operating console. Lubricate die surfaces and stock/parts. Clean die with air brush (angle and in-line tool) at times of lube build-up.

Inform, instruct, and oversee the Press Loader to assure the production of quality parts. Assist Press Loader with loading and unloading of parts at the press and conveyor oven. Maintain accurate part counts of current production.

Assure quality and production requirements are met, as per the job-specific travelers. Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement. Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience 1-2 years of High School or equivalent. 3+ month’s related manufacturing/production experience. Pass Written and Practical Test.   • Performs preventative maintenance checks on press and die sets
  • Monitors temperatures of furnaces according to type of metal being forged.
  • Completes quality documents such as SPC charts, routers, and tags.
  • Maintains housekeeping and safety standards in work area.
  • Duties of Surface Prep Technician - prepare raw and preformed material for forging operations, utilizing blasters, Pangborns, Belt Grinders, Hand Grinders, Buffers, Mills, Ban Saws, Chop Saws, Trim Presses, Arbor Press, Tumblers, and F.P.I.
  • Additional duties as requested by management.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to three years related experience and/or training.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gages, and comparators.
  • Working knowledge of press operations and forging equipment.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
