We are in need of an experienced appliance repair technician in the North Alabama area. We need techs that are Sealed System Certified. We will pay 40% of the service call fee and labor charges from the jobs that you do. You will get from 8 to 10 calls per day. My techs are making anywhere from $600 to $1800 per week each. You will be contract labor (1099) so you will be working for yourself. You will have to drive your own vehicle.

Terms of Employment:

12 months/240 days per year. Pay rate is at Manual trades Job Group 7 on the SAISD Compensation Plan. Entry level is at an hourly rate of $19.37 with additional consideration for directly related experience.

Primary Purpose:

To assist in the attainment of District goals through effective and efficient maintenance and repair of all industrial kitchen appliances in school facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification for Certified:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).

  • City of San Antonio Journeyman HVAC license or current State Air Conditioning License, Class A or Class B (Class A preferred) with Refrigeration Endorsement (C)

  • EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certified on Types I, II, and III (Universal Certification required)

  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record (must meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility)

  • Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by candidate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to use hands and power tools

  • Basic computer skills


  • One (1) year experience in kitchen equipment maintenance

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Maintenance and Repair

  • Installs, services and repairs all kitchen appliances including, but not limited to mixers and attachments, dish machines, ranges, convection ovens, steamers, kettles, tilt skillets, disposals, pre-rinse units, refrigerators, freezers, other small refrigeration units, ice machines and minor electrical and plumbing work

  • Check and make necessary leak repairs to all gas operated appliances

  • Read and interpret plans, diagrams and codes requirements for proper installation of equipment

  • Must be able to initiate and complete work order requests (AB-15)
