Responsibilities:

  1. Operates at least one major piece of equipment on any of the fabricating lines.
  2. Perform all the daily basic safety checks and observations, quality checks, checklists, and housekeeping
  3. Clear equipment jams
  4. Ensure compliance to quality control standards
  5. Utilizes computer interface panels to operate the equipment
  6. Maintain and support equipment
  7. Adheres to the requirements of the SOP’s, GMP’s and JSA’s
  8. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and adheres to all safety procedures as documented in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

  • Make ready and operate offset printing press.
  • Examine job order to determine quantity to print, stock specifications, colors and special printing instructions.
  • Examine offset printing plates for visual defects and apply correcting solution to repair minor defect or inform supervisor of unrepairable plates.
  • Apply packing sheet to blanket cylinder to build up blanket thickness to diameter of plate cylinder.
  • Measure paper thickness and adjust space between blanket and impression cylinders according to thickness of paper stock.
  • Adjust controls to regulate flow of ink and dampening solution to plate cylinder.
  • Start press, examine printed copy for ink density, position on paper and registration and makes adjustments to press throughout production run to maintain specific registration and color density.
  • Make adjustments to feeder and delivery mechanism.
  • Remove and replace worn rollers and adjust pressure between rollers of press, using hand tools.
  • Lead, give direction to, train, and monitor work of press assistant.
  • Perform proper and required maintenance as well as cleaning of press.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
Education and/or Experience
Requires 10+ years of First or Second Pressman experience with an in-depth knowledge of the mechanics and capabilities of presses. Need to be able to accurately distinguish color variation. Journeyman or Master Printers of America Certification.  UV, KBA 105, and/or Heidelberg 8 Color experience and Komori is a plus.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform the press set-up including any changes or adjustments to bolts, clamps, and burner assembly at the beginning of each production run. Verify the press is set up correctly and safely at the start of each shift. Check the die and stock temperatures with infrared gun and temperature sticks before running press.

Operate the forging press at operating console. Lubricate die surfaces and stock/parts. Clean die with air brush (angle and in-line tool) at times of lube build-up.

Inform, instruct, and oversee the Press Loader to assure the production of quality parts. Assist Press Loader with loading and unloading of parts at the press and conveyor oven. Maintain accurate part counts of current production.

Assure quality and production requirements are met, as per the job-specific travelers. Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement. Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience 1-2 years of High School or equivalent. 3+ month’s related manufacturing/production experience. Pass Written and Practical Test. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Basic English (reading, writing, verbal and comprehend) Ability to communicate with co-workers, supervisor, and QC personnel Basic Math and measuring Ability to use and operate equipment and machinery.

Knowledge of Accurpress Equipment a plus Job Summary Under moderate supervision, lays out metal stock or workpieces such as plates, angles, etc. to indicate location, dimension and tolerance necessary for further processing such as shearing, burning and/or punching. Analyzes specifications and computes dimensions according to knowledge of product, subsequent processing, shop mathematics and layout procedures.

Studies drawings, sketches or other specifications and plans layouts to insure production of product to Engineering specifications -- with minimal assistance. Lifts and positions workpiece in machine manually or with a crane/hoist. Verifies position with measuring instruments, determines reference points and computes layout dimension. Verifies first piece processing prior to volume production.

Sets up and operates assigned simple machine(s) such as shears, saws, press brakes, punch presses and roll formers to cut and shape components to specified dimension. May operate forklift and overhead crane/hoists and air tools. Makes most setups on assigned machines without assistance.

Working knowledge and ability to operate the laser. Completes all documentation/paperwork accurately. Proper movement and storage of material or product.

Follows inventory control processes and procedures. Knowledge & Skills High school diploma or GED certificate preferred. Minimum one year previous fabrication experience required Must be physically capable of lifting 51 lbs., on a regular basis for 8-10 hours.

Setup, adjust and operate all sizes of press brakes to perform a wide variety of forming, notching, bending, and punch operations on a diversified line of work. Ability to determine proper dies, setups of dies, setup of gauges, and adjustment of ram stroke to from all types of parts to proper angle and length without the use of work instruction.

Ability to determine forming sequence of multiple hit parts without the use of work instruction. Capable of writing work instruction once part setup has been established. Work from drawings, patterns, templates, and specifications.

Use vernier, protractor, indicator, radii gauges, etc. Proceed with minimum supervision and instruction. Selects, Positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed.

Positions workpiece manually or with crane. Starts machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends or cuts metal. Verifies dimensions of workpiece and make adjustments if necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three years related experience and/or training is preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Responsibilities: * Manage and run presses assigned for Press Operator II level.

Must be able to read and thoroughly understand each job before starting each job. Achieve optimal set-up, change-over, and wash up time.

Operate quickly and efficiently, without compromising job quality and safety. Produce jobs according to specs and instructions. Produce jobs at a quality level that meets or exceeds the customer's satisfaction.

Properly identify and "flag" labels that have questionable quality. Minimize unnecessary waste and spoilage of materials such as paper, ink, chemicals and other supplies.

Perform routine maintenance/repairs and cleaning of the printing press. Accurately record all necessary job data to ensure consistency for future orders. Properly store materials (inks, plates, labels, various offset press chemicals).
