Responsibilities:

  1. Operates at least one major piece of equipment on any of the fabricating lines.
  2. Perform all the daily basic safety checks and observations, quality checks, checklists, and housekeeping
  3. Clear equipment jams
  4. Ensure compliance to quality control standards
  5. Utilizes computer interface panels to operate the equipment
  6. Maintain and support equipment
  7. Adheres to the requirements of the SOP’s, GMP’s and JSA’s
  8. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and adheres to all safety procedures as documented in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  9. Report safety hazards, quality and production issues to supervision immediately
  10. Participates in all job related safety training

Press Brake/Shearer Operator (2Nd Shift)

The Press Brake/Shearer Operator sets up and operates the press brake to perform a variety of complex forming and bending operations on sheet stock. Calculates layout from profile dimensions to accurately size material required. Sets up and operates power shear to cut metal or plastic objects such as plates, sheets, slabs billets or bars to specified dimensions and angle.

  • Ensures that all guards and safety devices are installed and operating properly. Performs required equipment safety inspections. Reports any discrepancies to Production Supervisor and shuts the equipment down if necessary.

  • Installs the correct forming dies for the press brake operation involved to produce the shapes specified in work sheet and/or indicated by drawings.

  • Sets dies and stop gauges and adjust ram stroke for varying thickness of material.

  • Calculates layout from profile dimensions to accurately size material required.

  • Follows instructions as to the sequence of forming operations or when not specified, plans the sequence of bending operations best suited for the size and shape of the trim required to fill work order.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform the press set-up including any changes or adjustments to bolts, clamps, and burner assembly at the beginning of each production run. Verify the press is set up correctly and safely at the start of each shift. Check the die and stock temperatures with infrared gun and temperature sticks before running press.

Operate the forging press at operating console. Lubricate die surfaces and stock/parts. Clean die with air brush (angle and in-line tool) at times of lube build-up.

Inform, instruct, and oversee the Press Loader to assure the production of quality parts. Assist Press Loader with loading and unloading of parts at the press and conveyor oven. Maintain accurate part counts of current production.

Assure quality and production requirements are met, as per the job-specific travelers. Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement. Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience 1-2 years of High School or equivalent. 3+ month’s related manufacturing/production experience. Pass Written and Practical Test. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Basic English (reading, writing, verbal and comprehend) Ability to communicate with co-workers, supervisor, and QC personnel Basic Math and measuring Ability to use and operate equipment and machinery.

Summary

Operate assigned machines.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Read work orders, blueprints and other work instructions to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.

Use measuring devices to check dimensions and verify that manufacturing tolerances and quality standards are met.  Reports dimensions that are out of tolerance.  Calibrate measuring devices, adjust machine or re-work.

Perform additional operations on product such as cleaning, deburring, sanding, polishing, drying,  heating, etc.

Enters production and labor information into system(s) and/or prepares necessary documentation.

Clean equipment and tooling, maintain tooling; reports any operational problems with machines or tooling to supervisor.


Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma Required.  Must score 10 on Math Assessment.

Must be able to read and write in English.

Previous experience required.
