  • Verify the press is set up correctly and safely at the start of each shift.

Press Operator I, 3rd shift Cedar Rapids, IA

Summary This position safely and effectively follows work orders and/or prints to prepare belt for fabrication, fill and place molds in correct patterns, adjust and operate vulcanizing presses and ensure products meet quality and visual standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Read and interpret press operation orders and blue prints. Locate and gather materials, molds/tooling and supplies needed.

Load belt onto roller correct side up and secure it to feeder table. Prepare belt by either using a template or measuring and marking it before grinding the application design, if not automated. Paint ground surfaces with adhesive.

Measure and cut extrusion rubber and load molds with it. Place the molds on the adhesion at the same angle until the length of the belt to be vulcanized is full. Set blocking bars and sheets within the press to ensure even pressure during operation.

Set up, adjust and operate various vulcanizing presses for correct pressure, heat and time. Complete press production records. At the end of the press cycle, advance the belt and remove bars, sheets, molding, etc.

Repeat steps for the length of the belt. Cut off overlapping lengths of applications and remove extra flash and markings. Square the ends of the belt, as needed.

Tag the product with the work order number and take it to order fulfillment or packaging area. Close out orders in the computer system. Maintain a clean, organized work area.

Perform upkeep on tools. Attend work regularly and predictably and uphold Company values in all work aspects.

Trimming and de-flashing of rubber products. Inspection of parts produced to ensure parts meet all expected standards. Declare, document and separate non-conforming parts (2nd’s/rejects) from good parts per Defect Catalog.

Notify supervisor or manager at the time non-conforming parts are produced. Complete production tracking documentation prior to end of shift. Maintain a safe, efficient, ergonomic and clean work area and common area throughout shift, to include discarding trash as needed and at end of shift.

Request press maintenance through supervisor when the press is not running properly. Document, package and label good parts. Verify partial bins from previous shift.

Work Conditions:Ability to use fine motor skills to pull parts out of machine, sort and trim parts, assemble products and package parts. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Team lift up to 100 lbs.

Must be able to visually inspect parts for quality issues and identify non-conforming parts. Must be able to work in and around machines that produce heat. Must be able to walk between workstations and throughout the work area while moving items.

Employee must use arms, hands and fingers to handle, feel, twist, pull, reach, climb up and down ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to bend at the waist several times per day. Exposure to conditions, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, and gases that could affect respiratory system, eyes, or the skin.

PRESS BRAKE SET-UP OPERATORAdvantech Industries Inc. is a contract manufacturer providing sheet metal and precision CNC machined parts. We are currently recruiting for a Press Brake Set-Up Operator.Hours are Monday

  • Friday, 7:30am

  • 4:00pm.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES• Set-up an Amada Press Brake machine following the project details and blueprints.• Observe machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.• Inspect "first-part", consult with quality assurance and inspect work pieces throughout the production run for out of tolerance machining.• Using precision measuring instruments such as micrometer and dial caliper, ensure quality products are produced according to project specifications.• Periodically operate power roller conveyor and do work by hand.SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS-With limited supervision and quality work ethic, function as a member of a customer-driven team whose goal is to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved.-Hold oneself accountable for doing whatever is needed to meet the commitments made around project outcomes.-Maintain adequate levels of performance and motivation despite job tasks that are routine, repetitive, and/or non-stimulating.-Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directives.-Ability to work well under pressure, to adhere to deadlines and the ability to be flexible.-Thorough operational knowledge and skills of press brake equipment to be operated, including inspection equipment.-Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently.-Ability to keep record of time spent and material used.-Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers.-Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.-High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of experience.JOB BENEFITSVacationPersonal DaysHolidaysHealthDental Vision401(k) PlanEmployment is contingent upon successful completion or a pre-employment drug screen.
