Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens ### Duties In a developmental capacity, you will serve as a Lock and Dam Repairer performing the following duties: * General maintenance and repair tasks on lock and dam equipment and machinery and on buildings, grounds, and structures located at lock and dam sites along the Illinois Waterway.

  • Welding, Pipe Fitting, Carpentry, Painting, and Sandblasting. Cleaning, lubricating, adjusting, and replacing parts or other equipment.

  • Adjusting bearings in lock miter gates, culvert valves, and dam gate machinery. Installing machinery and equipment.

  • Repairing or reconstructing lock valves and gates, tainter gates, head and sluice gates.

  • Installing tainter gate side seals and wall lining plates, valve well tracks, guides, and seals, and welded lock walls and gate hand railings.

  • Performs a variety of deckhand duties: * * Handles mooring lines, hawsers, and towing cables as direced in connection with docking, undocking, makeup, or breakup of tow, and during lockages; * * Assists towboat operator in maneuvering tow by giving standard hand signals regarding clearances during lockages; * * Operates hydraulic powered winch to raise and lower spuds; * * Performs routine deck maintenance work.

_General Responsibility: _ Perform required duties to operate machine to wind, splice, cut and place into containers a variety of coil cutting stock to random or specified lengths following prescribed practices and procedures. Duties: * Using hand or hydraulic truck, procure coil material from storage area and transport to work area. Observe material and check for obvious defects, imperfections, straightness and twists.

  • Activate switch and monitor winding operation until proper length is indicated on counter. Cut band with metal cutters, lift from take up reel and place in container.

  • Operate electric welder to splice coil materials. Cut coils at appropriate location and place in jaws of welder.

    Select proper setting, adjust air pressure, tension and flash guard and activate welder. Adjust annealing operation, remove from jaws, grind and hand file weld. Change and dress grinding wheel as required.

    Reinstall in jaws and perform final annealing process. Determining proper application by visual inspection. Clean and maintain welder, lubricate and replace guides as required.

Position Purpose:

Coil Winder reports to the manufacturing supervisor and is responsible for operating basic machines and deburring, or light assembly, in an industrial setting. The position works under close supervision, limited decision-making and limited contact with external suppliers or customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Communicates information to others about project status, updates, specific instructions, etc. and reviews item status in MRP and ensures item is logged/closed out based on its current status.

  • Documents non-conformance and dispositions using non-conformance forms.

Winder

Integrated PowerServices (IPS) is seeking a Winder for our Cincinnati Service Center. Thisposition will provide electrical repair services for industrial AC/DC electricmotors, generators, gear boxes, and related equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Use of overhead, gantry cranes, and lift trucks and associated lift rigging.
  • Run balance equipment and test equipment for rotating machinery.
  • Identify problems and make necessary electrical repairs.
  • Perform field service at customer sites as needed.
  • Observe and maintain all safety procedures and housekeeping in assigned areas.
  • Set-up, run, and inspect entire product line/machine.
  • Train lower level employees in the discipline.
  • Perform electrical tests using portable test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, hi-pots, and surge comparison testers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Five years or more of experience in electricmotor rewinding, AC/DC stator, rotor, and armature winding with random and foilcoils.

Be willing and able to work overtime, weekdays,and weekends, and be available 24/7 to respond to customer emergencies.

Effective communication both orally and inwriting.

Be able to relate well with co-workers ina professional, knowledgeable, and respectful manner.

Be able to travel on short notice and spendoccasional nights away from home.
