General Crew Airship Operations [Fl]

About the Position + Under the general direction of the Grounds Crew Operation Manager, performs more simple maintenance and repair of airship power plants, related control accessories and auxiliary equipment including; runs, adjusts and engine tune ups for flight.

  • Assists other mechanics with maintenance and repairs to radio, metal and rigging.

  • Participates as a member of the ground crew in launching and retrieving the airship as required in a safe and acceptable manner.

  • Drives ground service equipment (GSE) bus, trucks, service van and car.

  • Tends to airship pressure watch (helium/air) in rotation with coworkers.

  • Represent the company and Airship Operations in a professional and appropriate manner.

  • Of particular importance are the public affairs of the assignment which includes personal appearance and attitude towards various publics in answering questions which depicts the company in a positive and favorable manner.

Primary Responsibilities + Maintains and repairs the airship on a daily basis as needed. This includes the airframe and power plant, airship envelope and cabling.

  • May assist in the airship rebuild/erection of airships.

  • May assist in rigging duties including patch tests, re-cabling, decaling, painting, etc.

  • Participates as a crew member. This includes assisting in the safe handling of the airship and passengers. Also includes driving the ground service equipment (GSE) bus, trucks, service van and car.

  • Tends airship (pressure watch- helium and air) in rotation.

  • Assists in launching and retrieval ( masting ) of the airship.

  • Doubles on airship pressure watch rotation with other General Crew personnel in order to maintain a safe masting condition including: Security, Proper Trim, pressure and ballasting and cleanliness of both airship and GSE.

  • Work with communications and navigation equipment, radar, power generation, electrical systems and all wiring systems in the airship. Also assist with all wiring and electrical systems in the ground equipment. This includes all electrical work up to needing a licensed electrician. + Troubleshooting is a major part of the work.

Required Education and Experience + High School degree or equivalent is required.

  • 2-year degree from an approved technical school in a related field is desired.

  • Ability to obtain a CDL is required.

Trims, drills, reams, and countersinks holes in composite parts and assemblies. De-burrs, grinds, and finishes cured parts to conform to engineering drawings, specifications, and process plans using templates, molds, jigs, fixtures using hand and power tools. Must be able to measure and mark parts with extreme accuracy for trimming and drilling.

Requires excellent understanding of complex drawings, procedures, blueprints, manufacturing process instructions, and standard operating procedures. May perform or assist in first article or test parts and assemblies involving compound or complex contours working to close tolerances. Must have low repair, rework and/or rejection rates.

Ensures that all assigned work areas are kept clean, orderly, and presentable at all times. Wears proper protective equipment during appropriate job functions. Complies with all paperwork, such as work instructions, that govern job duties.

, designs and improves new and existing automotive trim products. Generally completes the following duties and responsibilities with the support of senior engineering personnel and/or engineering management.


Major Responsibilities

  • Generally assigned to increasingly complex components, sub-assemblies and systems, e.g. may be responsible for changes based on new requirements or packaging constraints, or may contribute to the application of new technology.

  • Coordinates the complete development for the designated products including, but not limited to design, build and test activities, in accordance with standard operating procedures and the product delivery process.

  • Incorporates customer requirements, regulations and product specifications into the design of the designated products, ensuring compliance with operational, cost, timing, safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturing feasibility parameters.

  • Analyzes products and formulates engineering conclusions by the application of engineering and/or mathematical principles and tools. Applies QFD, FEA, FMEA, DOE, VA/VE and DFM/DFA in the development of the product.

  • Writes/compiles engineering content for the following deliverables: engineering specifications and documentation, including DVP&R;’s, 8D’s, GD&T;, BOM, prototype control plans, key product characteristics, engineering changes and work orders.

  • Consults and collaborates with personnel in various engineering and design activities relative to product development requirements. Conducts effective communications within the project team and the customer, supplier, manufacturing and quality communities with guidance from engineering management and senior engineering personnel. Maintains all appropriate documentation.

  • Provides engineering direction and support to design personnel.

  • Reviews and approves engineering designs. Reviews, approves, completes, and submits required change notices to ensure design outputs meet design inputs.

  • Independently prioritizes the completion of tasks and resolution of issues to ensure compliance to program deliverables. Contributes to the development of project timing.
