This position is located in the UNICOR Furniture Factory at a federal correctional facility. UNICOR is a government cooperation which employs inmates in manufacturing and producing a variety of goods and services for sale to other government agencies.
A primary purpose of this position is to train and supervise inmates in the manufacturing of plastic laminate and wood furniture and other products of various styles and designs. The duties of the position include manufacture and assembly of case good word furniture, including desks, bookcases, wardrobe lockers, lamps, credenzas, desk trays and tables.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.

The Extrusion Machine Operator will operate, troubleshoot, repair and perform minor maintenance of the extrusion equipment that processes polypropylene pellets into log form. You will understand both the product construction and the machine operation to maximize yields and machine uptime.
You will work shifts that are 12-hours long, 4am-4pm, on a rotating week schedule.
As the Extrusion Machine Operator, you will:
Observe all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) rules, including housekeeping practices
Participate in EHS meetings, investigations, and audits
Proactively communicate and address safety concerns
Set-up and monitor machine operations according to standard operating instructions
Understand department safety, quality and regulatory requirements, and production goals; actively engage in meeting these goals
Inspect raw materials and products to ensure there are no visual defects; take corrective action as needed
Perform checks to ensure accuracy per product specifications, ensure overall product quality, and tracks in manual logs or computer system to capture deviations and quality traceability data
Perform material disposition on all work-in-processes (WIP) parts as assigned
Perform advanced machine adjustments to ensure that proper construction specifications are being met
Interrupt machine operation as necessary to correct operating problems
Minimize the production of products that do not meet specifications by quickly taking action and using investigative, troubleshooting, and mechanical skills
Accurately measure work in process (WIP) and finished goods in inches or centimeters

STATEMENT OF JOB
The Dry Operator operates and controls the process for making a variety of different dry chemical blends and finished products. Dumps batches from Ball Mill or Littleford Blender, transfers product to various hoppers and performs process troubleshooting. May also be called upon to weigh out raw materials and prepare batch charges for Multi System and Ross Mixer. Transfers finished products from totes utilizing the tote tilt transfer system.
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, AND SAFETY OBLIGATIONS

1.Prepares mills and blenders for charging by checking instruments, graphs, pumps, steam, temperatures, water and controls.
2.After milling, grinding or pre-blending, transfers batch to Littleford blender or ball mill and then to various hoppers for filling into tote bins, cartons, pails or bags.
3.Maintains process by monitoring batch processing and batch records.
4.Unloads air slide cars of bulk bicarbonate by hooking up to pneumatic conveying system.
5.Performs shutdown operations such as steaming the Ball Mill, cleaning grinder (visually inspecting screens for any problems) and shutting down the system for repairs.
6.When switching to a different dry chemical process, may need to do a system cleanout.
7.Operates lift truck to haul raw and finished materials and/or product to and from work area.
8.Troubleshoots and performs some minor maintenance on mechanical process equipment.
9.Checks raw materials stock to inform Supervisor and/or Material Control of low inventory levels.
10. Transfers finished product to bulk trucks or production floor.
11. Fill / palletize pails utilizing the robotic pail fill line(s).
12. Performs daily inventory of raw and WIP material. Reports inventory data to supervisor, group lead or cycle count personnel as required.
13. Become proficient with CNS removal, labor entry and other SAP transactions.
14. Operates tote tilt transfer system(s) insuring internal customers do not run out of material.
15. Assists maintenance with trouble shooting and breakdowns.
16. Trains inexperienced operators on all duties
17. Works closely with other shifts to insure plant(s) runs at peak efficiency.
18. Accurately tracks, documents and maintains all applicable paperwork. IE: Downtime logs, batch record sheets, shift to shift communication log and other data as requested by the area supervisor, group leader or engineer.

Machine Operator/Screen Printer
Northwest Designs Ink is looking for a Machine Operator/screen printer associate to join our production department at our Bellevue Headquarters. This is an exceptional opportunity to apply your skills, gain experience, and join a growing team in the customized apparel industry.

Machine Operator Apprentice
Reports To: Supervisor and Plant Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for all activities associated with running a Flexo or Rotary Die Cutter including: setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.
Sets up and runs the Load Former, feeding the machine
Reviews job tickets, print cards, and quality inspection paperwork with machine Captain
Sets up and operates the pre-feeder.
Reads job order and mounts specified rubber print plate and printing dies on cylinder.
Installs cylinder on shaft, and secures assembly in bed of press.
Fills dye fonts with prescribed inks or dyes.
Moves levers to engage dye rolls, adjusting position of cylinder to print two or more colors without overlapping or smearing previously printed area.
Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plate as necessary.
Cuts sample of printed material from end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
Cleans rubber plate, cylinder, and dye fonts, using solvent, and lubricates press as needed, using grease gun.
May mix inks or dyes to produce desired colors.
Sets up rails, print, and die cut section on machinery accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
Inspects all dies before and after run to ensure that any necessary repairs are made before the next run.
Ensures all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured.
Monitor box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
Checks anilox rolls for damage.
Maximizes the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
Cross trains and assist Helpers, Stackers, and Bundlers with job duties on the machine.
Cross-train on other machines.
Completes necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data,
Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data. Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
Must be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
Switches duties with stacker as necessary.
Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
Adheres to production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals.
Reports any issues to Supervisor.
Adherence to company policies, including its attendance is essential.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or 2-3 to years related experience and/or training. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment or similar industry experience preferred.
