Perform assembly operations to build up and assemble units of modern complexity within prescribed cycle-time along a production line under limited supervision. The Aircraft Structures Engineer position is part of Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering within UPS Airlines and is focused on providing structures engineering support for A300, 747, 757, 767, and MD-11 cargo aircraft.
The position requires skills and experience in project development and management as well as structural repair design and approval. Project activity includes AD and other regulatory compliance, aircraft configuration definition and control, aging fleet programs (CPCP, AASFR, SSID, etc.), and reliability and cost savings initiatives related to aircraft structures and interiors. Repair activity includes analysis, oversight, and approval of structural repairs on the airframe and structural components by third party maintenance providers. Must be proficient in technical analysis, have a working knowledge of aircraft certification requirements, have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and be comfortable working with other departments and outside organizations.
Minimum of one (1) year experience in aircraft structures engineering. Bachelor's degree required, preferrably in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Other technical degree acceptable with equivalent engingeering experience. Applicant should be computer literate in basic office software, have CAD experience, and have good mechanical background with aptitude to hands-on projects.
Working knowledge of FAA regulations (14CFR25) associated with structural repairs.
Applicant should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate a positive attitude, and have the ability to work well with others at all levels within Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering.
