Job Description:
SP Industries is seeking a passionate, driven, and creative Mechanical Assembler to help take the Gardiner, NY, plant to the next level. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn coupled with the ability to improvise, adapt, and overcome problems. The candidate must have a passion for mechanical assembly and a desire to participate in cross-functional training and process improvement activities.
This individual's primary responsibility is to cost effectively complete work orders in a timely manner to ensure on time delivery while maintaining SP's standard for workmanship and complying with all safety, quality, and documentation requirements. Attention to detail, focus on meeting operational goals, and communication are key behaviors required for success. Most importantly, this individual must embrace change and focus on continuous operational and process improvements that further enhance the customer experience with SP's products and services.
Essential Duties:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Prepare and assemble various segments of mechanical systems and top-level assemblies as well as lower-level components and sub-assemblies under the direction of the immediate supervisor.
Interpret and use drawings, process procedures, and other written documentation to complete the preparation and assembly of components.
Fabricate simpler components using various items including hand tools, power tools, fixtures, jigs, drills, taps, saws and other tools and tooling.
Form, prepare, and align copper, brass, and plastic piping along with associated bracketing and hardware.
Braze, solder and bond piping.
Mount various assemblies and components.
Perform metal treatment processes per documented procedures and work instructions; processes include polishing, painting, and passivation.
Meet documented specification requirements and quality standards in a cost effective and timely manner.
Use various types of material handling equipment including hand trucks, carts, forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes, et cetera.
Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area.
Suggest changes for improved operations and cost savings.
Complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner as required by the manufacturing processes: Time Sheets, Assembly Routers, Non-conformance Records, Test Records, and others.
Follow all applicable safety policies, precautions, recommendations and procedures.
Assist other production departments or operations areas based on workloads and needs.
Assist in non-production areas as may be required by supervision and management.
Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and Work Skills
High School graduate or GED.

A basic practical knowledge of manufacturing practices is required; this can be learned on the job.

supervision, performs routine and simple tasks in support of assembly, other
process operations, or production testing in support of the Large Winch Production Team. Performs a variety of production assembly
tasks including winch building, boxing, electrical component assembly, carrier
assembly and line handling. Follows
well-established guidance from specified process instructions, blueprints and
verbalized instructions from other team members. Will be required to rotate
throughout assembly lines. May rotate
into other positions within the team or to another team as required to meet
production requirements. May be
responsible for some training as necessary once trained/qualified. Must be available
to work overtime.

Perform all types of assembly work as required per approved procedures.
