Lead Bonding Mechanic
A Lead Bonding Mechanic job is currently available through Belcan at one of our key aviation and aerospace clients in Dallas, TX. This is a contract to hire opportunity with a stable company that is growing by leaps and bounds.
To be considered for this role, you must read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specification sketches, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings. The ideal candidate must have composite, sheet metal, A/P certificate and structures experience with 5 years experience on the job in a supervisory role.
1.Performs bonding of metallic or nonmetallic materials to fabricate parts and/or for repair applications using products and processes which are varied but generally not complex in scope.
2.Must read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications sketches, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings. Determines equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as graphite, fiberglass, plastic, epoxy resins, rubber and like materials.
3.Plans, lays-out, fabricates and builds adhesive bonded assemblies of metallic and non- metallic composite materials. Fabricate composites and metal parts into subassemblies for the purpose of pre-fitting in preparation for bonding, curing in press ovens, and autoclaves.
4.Lay out, pre-fits, assembles and performs lay-up on a variety of metal-to-metal and composite bonded assemblies. Fits core in where close tolerances are required for installation of details for completion of assembly
5.Performs vacuum bagging. Lay out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts or uses templates.
6.Selects tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions.
7.Ability to lift 50- 75 pounds as needed, standing and bending for continuous periods of time.

Positions allocable to this class typically report to a Sheet Metal Supervisor and uses a variety of hand tools and power equipment in the installation, fabrication, assembly and repair of sheet metal articles and equipment. Incumbents are required to have a working knowledge of the sheet metal operation, sufficient to independently perform all the essential elements of work common to the fabrication and repair of sheet metal articles and equipment, and sufficient to train and provide technical supervision for apprentices and helpers.
Essential Job Functions
Fabricates or repairs such sheet metal articles as roofing, gutters, flashing, louvers, ventilators, ducts, hoods, sinks, steam tables, trays, lockers, shelves, fire doors and metal windows.
Fabricates signs, ducts, vessels, etc., from plastics.
Lays out, cuts, shapes and constructs articles of sheet metal, including black and galvanized iron and steel, tin, copper, brass, zinc, and stainless steel.
Transfers patterns from blueprints to metal, using scale, compass, divider, prick punch and other layout tools.
Punches or drills holes for rivets, bolts or screws.
Solders, welds and brazes.
Grinds and files seams, joints and rough surfaces; burrs and turns edges.
Maintains tools and equipment.
Supervise apprentices and helpers, as required.
Operates forklifts, construction, and other material-handling equipment, as required.
Drives automotive equipment to and from work sites to transport the necessary tools, equipment, and materials required to perform the job.
OPTION I: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship training program* in sheet metal work of at least four years duration.
OPTION II: Five years' experience in sheet metal work in the building trades, one year of which must have been at the journey-level.
A valid California Class C Driver License* is required to perform job-related essential functions. Candidates offered these positions would be required to show proof of a driver license prior to appointment.

Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials.
Shapes metal material over anvil, block, or other form.
Inspects assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications.
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures and certify/test product.
Follows and adheres to organizational and OSHA safety policies and procedures
Experience using precision measuring instruments.
High school diploma or equivalent
Entry level to 3 years of related experience
