Instrument Assembly Supervisor

JOB DUTIES

Manage the Instrument Assembly group, responsible for the assembly, wiring and test of new instruments. Responsible for insuring adequate site support to include troubleshooting and instrument repair.

Generate bids, based on historical data, for projects.Generate monthly man load report showing resources vs. production schedule.

Order and maintain tools and test equipment.

Review and approve timesheets, travel authorizations, and expense reports.

Review and status DR activity using FSI-SIMS database.

Participate in meetings affecting and/or involving the department.

Overtime and occasional travel are required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS

BSEET, avionics or related field with a minimum of 5 years experience in field of flight simulation or equivalent combination of education and experience. AS degree with 9 years experience; 13 years of experience with no degree. Knowledge and expertise for this position usually results from internal progressive experience.

Must have a firm grasp of the concepts involved with troubleshooting microprocessor based systems and performing system level troubleshooting utilizing software programs and utilities.Conversant with a diverse range of electronic test equipment including, but not limited to: Multi-Meter, Oscilloscope, Frequency Counter, Capacitance Meter, IC tester, EPROM reader/burner, unction Generator and AC and DC power supply.

Conversant with basic technician tools associated with the assembly, wiring and testing of complex instrument modules.

Conversant with utilization of special tools, such as utilizing laptop computers to interface with, diagnose and/or load test software into simulator equipment.

Music Instrument Repair Technician

West Music is looking for an experienced Band Repair Technician to share our passion for serving our customers and helping meet our mission of Play now. Play for life.

The technician's primary responsibilities include but are not limited to providing estimates, completing repairs, adjustments, overhauls, and preventative maintenance services on customer and rental pool band instruments. Our Band Repair Technician will support both walk in and school road sales repairs. This full-time position is located in our Cedar Falls Iowa store.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Complete band instrument evaluation, set up, and repairs in a timely manner and consistent with West Music standards. Work will on customer, manufacture warranty work, and West Music stock work on both brass and wind instruments.

  • Provides estimates for costs of repairs utilizing the repair price table. Provide regular follow up on estimates.

  • Handle all customer communication in a professional and articulate manner

  • Inspect each repaired instrument thoroughly to ensure excellent customer satisfaction

  • Develop relationships with customers to build repeat business.

  • Collaborate with Educational Sales staff to increase awareness of repair offerings within local school districts.

  • Creating working partnerships with area schools and Directors to help drive repair business.

  • Attend school contests and festivals to provide on-site repair services.

  • Will order repair parts and supplies as necessary.

  • Accurate completion of all repair paperwork, including repair tickets and shop logs.

  • Maintains technical knowledge on tools and techniques.

  • Maintain operational safety of repair shop including safely using tools and equipment, completing periodic audits, training and hazardous material inventories.

  • Maintain a clean work station.

  • Contribute to the cleaning and maintenance of the entire Service Shop

  • Willingness to provide assistance to other departments as needed

Education, Experience and Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a certificated instrument repair program.

  • Must be able to play test all instruments being repaired.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships across multiple departments and with both internal and external customers and resources.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with experience in prioritizing and juggling multiple tasks and demands while meeting deadlines.

  • Must have strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and can speak, write, and communicate ideas to a variety of audiences in a clear, concise manner.

  • Effectiveness in the following organizational competencies:

  • Proactive, collaborative work style

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years' brass and/or woodwind repair experience.
