Essential Responsibilities: As the Mechanical and CNC Screw Machine Set Up (3rd Shift), you will: + Set Up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations + Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto/into machines + Measure, examine, or inspect completed parts to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gages, and CMM + Insert program instructions into machine, change programs when necessary to start operation

  • Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished work piece dimensions, or numerical control sequences + Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programing is faulty or if machines malfunction

  • Control coolant systems, oil levels, and other cutting fluids required by job + Maintain machines and remove and replace broken or worn machine tools, using hand tools + Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or productions errors to obtain approval to continue production

A High school degree is required and must be willing to enter into the apprenticeship program. You will have good understanding of standard measurement principles and blueprint reading.

Proficiency using calipers, comparator, micrometers, and fixed gauges to close tolerances will be critical. This position requires you to work in oils and cutting fluids, constant standing and bending. You must be able to lift heavy bar-stock into feeding tubes. Overtime may be required as necessary.

Job Description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Set up and operate multi axis, numerical control milling machine to mill surfaces of metal castings and stock according to specifications and tooling instructions applying knowledge of machining methods.

This is for a first shift position but there could be a possibility that it could turn into a second shift position.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Machining Supervisor.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Set up jobs by loading program and fixtures into CNC.

  • Preparing and operating CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.

  • Understanding specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blue prints, mechanical drawings, etc.

  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.

  • Replaces milling, drilling, boring tools and inserts at specified change points.

  • Supervise the machines while they execute the machine cycle and make any necessary adjustments to produce parts to the dimensional standards.

  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with dimensional requirements to determine if the parts have been machined to the quality standards.

  • Uses inspection gages such as verniers, scales, micrometers and pin gages.

  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.

  • Operate within all safety guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS

  • experience with Mazak milling centers using Mazatrol controls
