Performs any operations to assemble and finish a wide variety of complex design cases, including prototypes, with minimal direction and supplied documentation. Works closely with Engineering staff to recommend and implement design changes swiftly and accurately for ease of manufacturability, prior to production release.
What You'll Do:
Works from incomplete and complex engineering prints, bills of materials, assembly drawings, written and/or verbal instructions. Determines sequence of operations, set up and layout of work area to assemble containers and performs other operations required for finishing and assembly of containers.
Interfaces with customers when necessary to ensure customer satisfaction and to improve customer product including, but not limited to, customer product improvements and product testing.
Assists in the fabrication of production fixturing for designs.
Picks parts and supplies from racks. Assembles container according to prints and specifications. Attaches hardware using fixtures.
May perform gluing, taping, flame treating and labeling operations. Notifies supervisor or others as appropriate of inspection failures, out of tolerance/specification situations and any other problems. Sets up and operates cutting, drilling.
Performs pressure "leak" testing, records results and determines leak cause for out-of-specification conditions. Reports out-of-specification conditions. Repairs, retests, and documents results. Performs inspection on finished containers, and stamps as approved. Performs repair operations as requested.
Trains all lower level assemblers/fabricators in the operations of the group.
Travels to other Pelican facilities and customers as needed.
Maintains established quality and quantity standards. Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and questionable conditions to proper supervision.
What You'll Need:
Must possess 1 – 3 years of experience in assembly of complex design and be proficient in the cut and weld process.
Must be able and willing to travel occasionally on an as-needed basis.
Must be proficient in use of all tools related to cutting, trimming, routing containers, assembly tools, drill presses, welding tools, hand and power tools, laminating and pressing equipment including saws, die cutting press, glue applicators.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the preparation of molds and forms.
Mark and cut tape, woven material, honeycomb, adhesive and similar materials following templates, guides or specific dimensions and sequences.
Route, drill, trim, and sand to blueprint dimensions and tolerances. Vacuum bag parts for room temperature cure.
Assist in the lay-up of composite materials to molds.
Fit and smooth successive layers of materials as necessary to secure build-up free from wrinkles, air pockets and voids following directions and instructions.
Assemble Aircraft components using structural adhesives, rivets and threaded fasteners.
Prepare surface and paint composite and metal components including bodywork, contour shaping and sanding. Apply spray application of epoxy paints, urethane and water based epoxy coatings, using a high volume low-pressure spray gun.
Assist in the development of shop aids to facilitate fabrication, trimming and assembly as required.
Check expiration dates of materials prior to use, prepare proper mixes of resins and catalysts.
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Maintain records as required. Support quality process by maintaining work area in an orderly condition by returning tools, equipment and materials to storage area.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

ERI is seeking a qualified candidate for an immediate full-time job opening for the position of Assembly Technician, located in San Leandro, CA. This position is reporting to the Production Manager. This is a detail-oriented position for a quality focused individual, who thoroughly understands both product assembly and testing.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform mechanical assembly, Hydro testing and performance testing of ERI products in accordance with released assembly and test procedures.
Ensure the products meet compliance with all released product and component documentation.
Perform disassembly of field returned products for analysis, prepare product failure analysis report and repair as directed.
Label and package products in accordance with released procedures.
Operate forklift and pallet jacks to load and unload trucks and pallet racks as required.

Skills & Requirements:

5+ years' experience working in non-electronic mechanical equipment assembly.
