CTA Construction Co., Inc. is an award-winning, ENR top 400, Waltham-based construction management firm that is currently seeking seasoned Project Superintendents to run the day to day operations of large-scale projects throughout Massachusetts (Eastern MA, Central MA, 495 Belt, North Shore, South Shore & Cape Cod). The Project Superintendent has ultimate responsibility for the day to day onsite management of projects including:
• Ultimate responsibility for management of the project schedule
• Develop and maintain the site specific quality control plan
• Develop and maintain the site specific safety plan.
• Develop and maintain the site logistics plan.
• Conduct weekly foreman and superintendents meetings. Assure regular minutes of these meetings are accurately prepared and distributed.
• Assure daily construction reports are prepared in a thorough and timely manner.
• Serve as liaison with the community in the areas where the project is being performed. Promote CTA in the communities we work and to the public at large.
• Maintaining client relations with architects, owners, subcontractors, etc.
Minimum Requirements

• MA Unrestricted Supervisors License
• Associates degree or higher in Construction Management preferred (not required)
• 5 to 10 years of construction industry experience
• Strong leadership skills are a plus
• Exceptional communication skills

About the Position:
The Project Superintendent is responsible for all on-site management of underground utility construction projects and field personnel from inception to completion of each assigned project. Must have direct knowledge and experience in underground utility construction consisting of water, storm, sewer, etc. 5 years of construction supervisory experience preferred. Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management and/or 5 years of construction supervisory experience preferred. Must have direct experience and knowledge of underground utility construction.
  • Proficiency in the use of PC with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Must be able to read blue prints, construction contracts, subcontracts and other construction documents, plans and specifications.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain business relationships – including working effectively with owners, engineers, co-workers, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public.
  • Must be able to travel to and live in the area of remote construction project locations as may be required for whatever periods of time as are necessary to complete such projects.

Summary/General Description of Job: The Construction Superintendent assists the Construction Manager in the daily operations of the construction department, provides overall leadership for “job-site” field administration, and full oversight for construction activities. The duties involve managing the start-up and close-out of multiple construction projects, troubleshooting job-site problems, handling project construction responsibilities from cost estimating to closeout. The Construction Superintendent will also act as the primary liaison with subcontractors, ESH&Q; Inspector and Construction Manager to perform multiple walkouts with necessary sub-contract coordination, ensure quality control and all site specific environment, health, safety, quality and security requirements are properly implemented and develop subcontractor Scopes of Work. This position will assist in the review and assembling of submittal packages, developing RFIs/submittals, developing construction schedules and ensuring adherence to established schedules, along with coordinating all sub-contractor labor and manage sub-contractor and customer change orders.

Essential Duties & Job Functions: * Acts as primary contact to the Subcontract entity assigned to the construction project.

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, directs and controls all construction activities for assigned projects in a manner such that there is minimal interruption to the customer’s operation and employees.

  • Responsible for cost management, timely completion and quality workmanship that meets or exceeds industry standards.

  • Maintains good customer relations and keeps Construction Manager informed of project status through weekly meetings and other means as needed.

  • Reviews plans, specifications, drawings and cost estimates to identify and correct any errors, omissions, code violations or potential project inadequacies for review/correction.

  • Ensures company compliance with terms of the contract. Promptly resolves subcontractor concerns and compliance issues and notifies Manager of concerns.

  • Provides regular project updates to Manager about key information points.

  • Provide support to and works with all contract Environmental, Safety, Health and Quality team members. Proactively pursues quality control opportunities for high profile and large projects.

  • Continually reviews project status with customer, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve any problems regarding safety, design, quality, scheduling, profitability, or other related issues.

  • Conducts project site visits and develops detailed project notes reflecting necessary project performance requirements.

  • Diligently prioritizes projects based on customer needs and changing conditions.

  • Develops scope of work and scheduling documents for construction projects in accordance with customer requirements, pre-bid walkouts, and specifications. Actively works with subcontractors for weekly schedule.

  • Tracks delivery order projects using available scheduling software as well as creates and maintains baseline schedules and performs critical path analyses to identify stop gaps and project challenges.

  • Calculates project completion percentages and reports incrementally as defined and at final completion.

  • Assists Estimator with material / equipment take off and develops activities to include resource allocation and tasks durations

  • Fully responsible for turnkey construction project and activity compliance including but not limited to security, quality, safety, environmental, workmanship, schedules, costs, customer correspondence, materials procurement, access, staging, temporary utilities, submittals, RFIs, and change orders. Perform routine field inspections to ensure compliance.

  • Communicates regular updates to administrative personnel for all task related information managed within the tracking database on a timely basis.

  • Generates receiving reports and collects project closeout documents such as red line drawings, release of claims, asset information, and warranties.

  • Develops and facilitates project punch out deficiencies.

  • Completes subcontractor performance evaluations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of the construction department.
