Purpose: To provide a safe work environment through proper training and communication. The Printing Assistant Operator will assist in the set-up and operation of the press while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment for maximum press efficiency production quality.
Dimensions: This position is responsible for working closely with a Press Operator to ensure customer quality expectations are being met.
Adheres to all safety policies and procedures while ensuring all team members work within the safety guidelines as established by Berry Global.

Reads and understands job jacket to ensure production is run according to specification.
Performs machine make-ready to set it up to run proper production.
Performs quality checks according to established procedures to ensure all Quality Standards (Color matches and Registration) are being met. Makes necessary adjustments to Press and other elements of the process as needed.
Records and maintains data related to downtime, including amount of time, reason for downtime, and actions to correct problem.
Enters daily production data on PC located at Press and adjustments to press that are controlled by computer.
Performs machine trouble shooting and makes adjustments to correct quality or efficiency problems related to machine set up or mechanical defect.
Keeps all waste and scrap within company guidelines.
Fills out all pre-make ready and approval sheets.
Assist in training of new employees and directing the daily duties of subordinates.
Ensures correct inks are in place and are changed out when necessary.
Stages rolls of paper at the back of the press using air activated roll pusher, manually pushing rolls into final position.
Assist in removal of W.I.P pallets from press.
Performs other related duties to contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervision.
Basic understanding of Machinery (Hydraulics and Pneumatics). Ability to use hand tools to remove, install, and adjust parts of machine.

Qualifications and Skills
2 Years minimum experience operating medium/large format digital print press IE: Epson, Vanguard, Hewlett Packard, and Afinia.
Prepare graphic files for ripping for digital printing
Ensure that all colors are consistent through the RIP process and that all files are sent through the RIP under the correct environmental settings.
Maintain all equipment in a clean and operable manner by performing scheduled maintenance in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
Excellent math and analytical skills required. Detail oriented.
Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude under tight deadlines.
Effective written and oral communications skills.
1-4 years of graphics arts industry experience. Large Format Imaging and/or production experience preferred.
Knowledge of the common materials and processes used in the large format industry.
Strong computer skills
