Web Offset Printing Press Operator

Job Description

Golden Valley Central Print Facility has an immediate opening for an experienced Press Operator with Web Offset Printing background. Must be able to set up and operate a multi-unit offset web printing press and coordinate press team members interactions on the press, ensuring each job is run according to customer specifications and meeting internal and external deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality control and reducing waste and press downtime. Full-time position at 34 hours per week; includes benefits, 401k, and a generous PTO package. Must be able to work up to 12 hours per shift, nights & weekends. Salary is based upon experience.

Essential Functions &

  • Ability to read job tickets and determine quantities to be printed, colors, or special printing instructions. Ensure entire press crew understand the details of the job to produce best quality product and proper press utilization.
  • Perform press operations to operate and run press, such as make-ready, folder operation, register color, and general press operations maintenance activities. Ensure press speed and quality are maintained.
  • Determine first save copies on all pull-ups. Collect and inspect random samples during print runs to identify any necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure proper web tension to allow job to run at correct speed.
  • Maintain waste within acceptable ranges.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the press.
  • Ensure quality standards meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Previous experience with DGM 430 cold set

Position Overview * Learn and gain full knowledge of press operation within a maximum time frame of 1 year.

  • Fully commit to Belmark operating procedures and produce a consistently high quality product within acceptable standard waste and time rates.

  • Take accurate notes for reference guide when operating press independently. Demonstrate learning by performing set up tasks, color and ink procedures within a 3 month time frame.

  • Learn to fully understand schedules and how to complete necessary paperwork.

Position Requirements * Requires education equivalent to two (2) years of high school.

  • Requires at least six (6) months experience setting up, operating and cleaning up a narrow web press.

  • Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize the English language.

  • Math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be able to read customer and internal drawings.
  • Program, set up, and operate Bystronic or Accurpress Press Brakes.
  • Inspect the parts produced by comparing the parts to blueprint using height stand, calipers, and other specialized measuring devices.
  • Be able to run production efficiently as well as working with engineering on prototyping projects.
  • Work within customer and internal tolerances and specifications.
  • Complete and maintain accurate shop paperwork.
  • Perform daily 6S duties.
  • Minimum of 2 years prior Press Brake experience.
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to use height stand, caliper, micrometer, protractor, radius gauge, etc.
  • Must have a solid working knowledge of blueprint reading and shop math.
  • Possess a drive for achieving production, while focusing on safety and quality.
  • Capable of working in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50-pounds.
  • Must be reliable, and have good attendance.
