Position Summary:

The Furnace Operator safely prepares, melts, and atomizes metal powder following job instructions. This will include loading the furnace with raw materials, purging down with inert gas, power-up, taking temperatures, inspecting, and pouring the molten metal from a hydraulically positioned induction furnace. Support activities associated with position include preparation and maintenance of the refractory furnace lining, maintenance of accurate production records, delivery of atomized product to the screening area, and cleaning the furnace and atomization system between alloys.


Responsibilities:

  • Meets or exceeds all safety, environmental, and health goals for department.
  • Meets or exceeds quality goals for production orders.
  • Meets or exceeds productivity targets.
  • Notifies lead or supervisor about any problems.
  • Contributes to continual improvement activities.
  • Operation and monitoring of induction melting equipment used for the gas atomization of nickel and cobalt based alloys.  This will include loading the furnace, purging the system with inert gas, power-up, and pouring the molten metal from a hydraulically positioned induction furnace. Responsible for preparation and maintenance of refractory furnace lining.  It is important that the furnace operator maintain a constant awareness of the condition of the refractory lining.  
  • The furnace operator cleans the furnace and atomization tank between alloys.  The operator performs routine maintenance and support activities (e.g. replacement of power leads,  disassembly of atomization tank, installation of gas delivery system).  The furnace operator is responsible for the cleanliness of his / her work area.    
  • The furnace operator utilizes process parameters specified in the job traveler.  Accurate records are maintained of heats poured noting characteristics such as start and stop time, gas pressures, temperatures, and melt characteristics.
  • The furnace operator is responsible for the identification of in-process atomized material, transfer of atomized product to  the screening area, and submission of samples to the QC laboratory per instructions on the job traveler.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or vocational technical training
  • Basic math skills and organization ability
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, i.e. lifting, bending
  • Ability to safely operate cranes and powered industrial vehicles

In this position, you will sell analytical instrumentation and develop a professional sales relationship with customers. I. Primary Function

To setup and assemble FT switches. This involves assembly of sub-assemblies and finished parts with small components consisting of such items as handles, springs, screws, nuts, covers, housings and switches in accordance with product specification sheets, drawings and methods, schedules, and customer needs.

The following are the usual major job duties but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties by the incumbent, nor the question being raised on the proper rate of pay for the assignment.

  1. Arrive on time. In work area and ready for assignement at start of shift. 

  2. Receive work assignment from supervisor or his/her designee.

  3. Assemble sub-assemblies and finished parts through such methods as hand assembly, riveting, air driving, and bolting components, per specification sheets and customer orders. Perform final boxing, to complete assemblies and sub-assemblies.

  4. Test finished parts by using guagues, computer terminals and testing equipment, and assure test results are within tolerances as defined on product specification sheets. As required, document status and pass/fail test information of completed sub-assemblies and finished parts.

  5. Visually inspect sub-assemblies and finished parts for accuracy, proper connections and placement, making adjustments and changes as necessary.

  6. Follow methods, M-Specs, product specs. and drawing information required to assemble and test relays.

  7. Support quality manufacturing goals, productivity goals and on-time shipment goals.

  8. Follow Kanban procedures in ordering and receiving materials. First in, first out (FIFO)

  9. Report material defects and shortages to supervisor or designated employee.

  10. Follow safe work practices and wear PPE while required (Safety glasses & ear protection) Maintain tools, equipment and working area in a clean and orderly condition.

  11. Perform duties in accordance with the Coral Springs Quality, Safety and Environmental Management
