Y-Tech Services, Inc. is seeking an Automobile Body Repairer / Fiberglass. The Automobile Body Repairer, Fiberglass repairs damaged fiberglass automobile bodies, using pneumatic tools and knowledge of fiberglass repair techniques.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Cuts away damaged fiberglass, using air grinder.

  • Smooths edges of painted surface, using sandpaper or air-powered sander.

  • Masks surrounding undamaged surface, using masking tape.

  • Cuts plastic separating film, using shears, and tapes film to outside repair area.

  • Mixes polyester resin and hardener according to specifications and applies mixture to repair area, using brush.

  • Soaks matting in resin mixture and layers matting over repair area to specified thickness. Peels separating film from repair area and washes repair surface with water.

  • Occasionally secures new panel to repair area, using C-clamp.

  • Applies and spreads body filler manually to reestablish surface.

  • Manually files away excess filler to match original contour.

  • Smooths filler, using air sander.

  • Cleans repair area with air gun.

  • The Automobile Body Repairer, Fiberglass may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

Auto Body Repair Technician

Position Summary Repair and refinish automotive vehicle bodies and straighten vehicle frames.

Essential Tasks 1. Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage. 2.

File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools. 3. Mix polyester resins and hardeners to be used in restoring damaged areas. 4. Fix small dents that cannot be worked out with plastic or solder. 5.

Position dolly blocks against surfaces of dented areas and beat opposite surfaces to remove dents, using hammers. 6. Sand body areas to be painted and cover bumpers, windows, and trim with masking tape or paper to protect them from the paint. 7. Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders. 8.

Weld aluminum and steel parts. 9. Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Physical Demands Ability to frequently lift or carry parts in excess of 100 lbs. Ability to assume positions on and under vehicles while performing repairs. Environmental / Physical Conditions Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, noise and temperature variances.

Equipment- OSHA approved steel toed safety shoes required from the first day of this job.- Technician must furnish all hand tools up to and including ¾’’ as well as air impact and air ratchet.

QualificationsEducation- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)- Post Secondary Certificate or training in mechanics preferred Professional Experience- Minimum of 2 years experience in auto body repair; experience in heavy-duty truck body repair is preferred.
