Reviews Engineering Design Documentation consisting of Drawing, Engineering Order and Parts List for consistency with company standards, design quality, requirements and it's correct interpretation. Also reviews 3D models used to produce 2D design are properly associated and provide repeatibility and correct representation in the Digital Aircraft model. Constant interaction with Design teams to review / discuss issues and agree on acceptable solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Consult with design team and other checkers for interpretation

Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
Experience designing mechanical and / or structural parts, assemblies or installations for aircraft
At least 7 years of experience with CATIA and PLM Systems (preferably Teamcenter)
Experience working with GD&T
Experience checking Aerospace Drawings
BS Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
Experience with composite materials is a plus

This position will support engineers in the review of design data that will comply with applicable military specifications, SAE, ANSI, ASME, and other related standards.
This position will be responsible for reviewing drawings for formatting errors and working with the engineering team to ensure a high level of quality in the design data.
This position will also be responsible for reviewing change documentation and its related incorporations for completeness and correctness.
This position will help develop a set of common Design Standards that meets our Customers and Program requirements.
This position will be expected, at times, to be involved with the drawing creation and subsequent Production review processes.
Must have 6+ years of experience of each of the following:
- Familiarity with SAE AS50881 and ANSI/ASME Y14.100 or related design and drafting standards
- CATIA V5 experience
- Familiarity with Change Documentation process and all related requirements to this process, Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

PURPOSE & SCOPE:
Under supervision of the Design Department Supervisor, performs design and development tasks for mechanical and fluid power products. Creates basic engineering documentation required to define company product and change existing engineering documentation. Conducts thorough drawing & design reviews as designated by Design Department Supervisor.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare basic 3D design concepts and 2D layout drawings using CAD systems to show proper arrangements and design intent for company products.
Prepare basic detail drawings using CAD systems and proper Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to define design requirements for production.
Review detail drawings created on CAD systems for conformance to applicable layouts and for accuracy, completeness, clarity and formatting.
Perform thorough engineering review of routine product maintenance revision packages, including drawing changes and Document Change Notices (DCN) for accuracy, completeness, clarity and formatting.
Prepare complete assembly and installation drawings for customer submittal as directed by the Design Department Supervisor.
Assist the Checker of an assigned project by performing basic dimensional stackup analyses of assemblies and components to ensure proper fit, form, and function.
Performs CAD system management tasks as assigned by the Design Department Supervisor.
Check 3D models for compliance to drawings or customer requirements
Prepare new detail drawings as required
REQUIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED
Work experience or specific secondary school coursework in drafting, design, CAD, CAD/CAM
Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects
Must be a U.S. Citizen

- Solid understanding of OSS Data management systems, component, and assembly structures (VPM,Team Center,…).
This would include the support and testing of future PDM system development for OSS.

Expierience in developing and documenting best practices for 3D modeling of components and assemblies
Knowledge in the areas of Knowledge Based Engineering tools (KBE), Macro's, development of Model templates,

Primary job responsibility will be to perform document checking functions for mechanical, electrical, cabling, and electronic packaging engineering drawings and specifications. A qualified candidate will have proven experience doing design work for Manufacturing/Assembly environments. Must have strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 2004.
We work with tight tolerances so you must have design experience working with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Knowledge and proficiency with parts, assemblies, multi-body surface parts, feature configurations, and assembly configurations. Knowledge of drawing specifics defining weldments, composite parts and bonded assemblies, machine parts and sheetmetal parts and assemblies.
