Accessory Installation Technician

As an Accessory Installation Technician one must perform the following: Perform accessory installation on new vehicles, used vehicles and occasionally guest-owned retail vehicles.
Accessories to be installed include, but are not limited to remote start, pickup bed-liners, tonneau covers, mud-flaps, running boards and heated seats. At times, you may need to perform general maintenance and light repairs of customer vehicles, may recondition and repair existing used vehicle inventory, and inspect new vehicle inventory prior to sale. Other duties as requested by service manager.

Working or educational knowledge of various makes and models, and familiar with types of repairs.
Minimum 1 year experience as a service technician.
Vocational degree or certification in Automotive Repair preferred + ASE or factory certifications preferred.
Excellent customer service skills and multitasking ability.
Minimum of 17 years old and a current, valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Vehicle Accessory Installer
Position: Quick Repair
The Quick Repair Technician will perform repairs as directed by the Work Shop Supervisor. All repairs will be performed following strict adherence to the Customers technical guidelines as outlined by the Customers Technical Information Systems and related guidance from the Customers Work Shop personnel.
Accessories such as wheel locks, grill installations, and other quick installs are installed in the quick repair area based on dealer requests, or requests by internal Customer Departments. Complete minor scratch repairs and touch up.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to the ability to cross-train and function in the following areas:
Install required accessories.
Complete a JD Powers type of inspection.
Follow up on countermeasures to provide input to management that procedure is in place and being followed.
Trained to the PDI/IQS operation standards.
Abide by all safety guidelines and wear protective equipment.
Abide by all company policies, procedures, and workplace practices.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and be able to drive vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
- Meet all physical requirements to perform the job safely, to include but not limited to standing, walking, using stairs, bending in order to get in and out of vehicles.
- Demonstrates the ability to carry out specified work procedures and follows directions of supervisors and lead persons.

Mixes polyester resin and hardener according to specifications and applies mixture to repair area, using brush.
Soaks matting in resin mixture and layers matting over repair area to specified thickness. Peels separating film from repair area and washes repair surface with water.
Occasionally secures new panel to repair area, using C-clamp.
Applies and spreads body filler manually to reestablish surface.
Manually files away excess filler to match original contour.
Smooths filler, using air sander.
Cleans repair area with air gun.
