Summary:   Performs essential job functions under limited supervision to meet customer requirements.

Requirements (Qualifications & Skills):

  1. ___Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. ___Experience Necessary: Requires 2+ years  experience as a straightener and/or former.
  3. ___Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 
  4. ___Must have working knowledge of heat treating, testing, commercial/aircraft/aerospace materials.
  5. ___Must have basic knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical presses.
  6. ___Must have good knowledge of blueprints, basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  7. ___Must be able to use and read inside and outside micrometers or verniers.
  8. ___Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs., push, pull, bend, lift, climb, stoop, stretch, stand.  
  9. ___Work Environment: May be exposed to heat, dust, noise, humidity, fumes, etc.
  10. ___Must be able to work overtime or any shift, including weekends, to meet company commitments/goals.
  11. ___Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification.
  12. ___Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism. 

Essential Job Functions (Duties & Responsibilities): 

  1. ___Handle hot parts up to 1400°F while performing straightening and forming operations.
  2. ___Checks/records straightness and dimensional records as required by work orders.
  3. ___Performs basic bar and extrusion straightening.
  4. ___Straightens plates, bars, forgings, bulkheads, beams, etc.
  5. ___Performs forming to template and compound forming to check fixtures.
  6. ___Performs hydro-press forming and stretch press operation.
  7. ___Makes forming aids such as blocks, tooling, etc.
  8. ___Makes suggestions to initiate method improvements.
  9. ___Assists with training of Straightener Helpers and other Straighteners.
  10. ___Promotes safety and good housekeeping practices.
  11. ___Must maintain professional demeanor and appearance at all times as determined by the company.

·         Operates and uses all service equipment properly and safely.

·         Refinish bumpers and other panels on pre-owned vehicles.

·         Refinish wheels (alloy/aluminum) on pre-owned vehicles.

·         Removes rust from metal and grease and dirt from work surface.

·         Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated.

·         Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color.
