Responsible for dimensional control and inspection of castings to meet external quality requirements. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: + Configures and operates the straightening presses and ovens.

  • Effectively uses straightening and inspection fixtures as required according to procedures.

  • Dimensionally inspects and controls castings using measurement and straightening tools per procedures + Troubleshoots straightening fixtures.

  • Maintains, stores, and verifies calibration of measurement tools.

  • Machines all test bars.

  • Performs heat treat/age temper on all parts. · Maintains lot integrity. · Ensures paperwork is properly done. · Helps other areas as needed. Minimum Job Requirements: · Able to work in a production environment. · Able to read and comprehend English. · Able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications regarding parts. · Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

MISSION: To straighten metal castings to meet dimensional tolerances and customer specifications.

Straightens both large and small parts. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Straightening Objective: to mechanically correct non-conforming dimensions that require checking per specifications.

Typical Activities: A. Measures and inspects castings to verify appropriate tolerances and identify discrepant tolerances; checks tech cards and CMM dimensional reports; may prestraighten casting prior to dimensional check. B. Determines the most effective method of making straightening repairs to castings.

C. Straightens castings using manual tools, profile templates and power presses; preheats castings before placing in press; rounds parts with power or manual tools. D. Straightens castings using the hot straightening process; fixtures parts for heat treat (TBO only) E. Creates custom press blocks and tools as needed.

F. Works closely with Dimensional Inspectors and Engineering personnel to resolve dimensional problems. 2. Casting Acceptance. Objective: to determine dimensional acceptability to tolerances.
