    Requirements GENERAL SUMMARY The Instrumentation Control and Electrical


    (I&C;/E) Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems and electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities. The I&C;/E Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems.

    Primary Functions The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct I&C;/E functions safely, reliably, efficiently and in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Inspect repair, install and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, storage batteries, and work with electrical systems up to and including 4160 volts. Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems.

    Conduct trouble shooting and analysis on DCS, PLC and turbine control equipment. Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment. Assist in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory to maintain plant reliability.

    Assist in physical inventories. Maintain Continuous Emission Monitoring equipment (CEMS) which includes PM’s, troubleshooting and completing all necessary reporting requirements. Assists in the development and implementation of the budget for assigned systems.

    Performs other duties as required by plant conditions. Maintain a clean and safe shop and plant environment. Design and install new equipment and/or system modifications.

    Complete instrument calibrations in the shop and in the field. Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records. Complete other tasks as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor.

    Working Relationships The I&C;/E Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and periodically receives work direction from the Lead Technician. Works in cooperation with operations personnel on matters pertaining to the daily operation of the plant and responds to direction from the Plant Manager in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Physical requirements include standing on feet for extended periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.

    Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required. All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program.

    This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility. Desired Qualifications Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school.

    Have a minimum of third year electrical apprenticeship completed with three years of work experience as electrician in related industry preferred. Graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program and two years’ work experience as a technician in a related industry or equivalent Military training and experience is desirable. Four years work experience as an electrician and/or I&C; technician with increasing responsibility in a related industry may be substituted for the above requirements.

    Have some knowledge of the National Electric Code. Experience working with voltages up to 4160 volts highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Ability to work well with others and be self-directed, as well as apply creative solutions to unique I&C; /E problems is desirable. Able to work from blueprints, one line schematics and ladder logic drawings. Skilled in the use of electrical and instrumentation test equipment.

    Skilled in the use of hand and power driven tools. Possess excellent organizational skills. Must have strong personal computer skills.
