Essential duties include, but are not limited to: + Removes, repairs or replaces covering, webbing, padding, springs and ornamentation

  • Fabricates templates from Plexiglas; measures and cuts new covering cloth + Repairs as needed wooden frame of work piece; refinishes wooden surfaces + Replaces webbing and springs or reties springs + Installs cloth covering over frame on inside and outside of arms and back, seat; sews or tacks ornamental trim to cover or frame + Operates sewing machine to seam cushions and join various sections of covering material + Monitors stock of supplies, tools and equipment and requisitions for replenishment as appropriate + Monitors upholstered stools and other pieces throughout facility for damage and obvious wear + Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibilit + Reupholster/repair Casino Table Games rails + Replace Casino Table Games felt layouts + Install, remove and/or work on all equipment found on Casino Gaming Tables + High school diploma or trade school certificate required. twovacancies for Upholsterers at the Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) located in Madison, WI. CWC is located on the north side of Madison and offers a beautiful campus environment, convenient free parking and an onsite workout facility.

The working hours are Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm. Central Wisconsin Centerfor the Developmentally Disabled is one of three state operated Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) which provides residential care and active treatment to approximately 200 individuals. Position Summary: This position is responsible for the operation of the sewing room and independently acts as a consultant for departments at CWC and Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) concerning sewing related requests. Responsibilities include cutting and fabrication of adaptive and specialized clothing used by residents at CWC; measuring, altering and tailoring clothing for residents; and repairing draperies and adaptive equipment.

  • Cuts away damaged fiberglass, using air grinder.

  • Smooths edges of painted surface, using sandpaper or air-powered sander.

  • Masks surrounding undamaged surface, using masking tape.

  • Cuts plastic separating film, using shears, and tapes film to outside repair area.

  • Mixes polyester resin and hardener according to specifications and applies mixture to repair area, using brush.

  • Soaks matting in resin mixture and layers matting over repair area to specified thickness. Peels separating film from repair area and washes repair surface with water.

  • Occasionally secures new panel to repair area, using C-clamp.

  • Applies and spreads body filler manually to reestablish surface.

  • Manually files away excess filler to match original contour.

  • Smooths filler, using air sander.

  • Cleans repair area with air gun.
