Jacobs Technology has an opening for an Emissions Laboratory Test Technician. Responsibilities include:
Operation of chassis dyno & emission analyzers including: dyno operation, install & removal of vehicle, vehicle driving based on drivers' aid or test instructions, & emission analyzer operation
Check data after completing test to ensure data integrity & results meet test request

Provide emissions instrumentation support (test cell and engine systems) to the Daimler-Detroit Diesel Powertrain Engineering Laboratory. Duties of an Emissions instrumentation technician encompass a wide range of responsibilities including building, modifying, repairing, maintaining and calibrating a variety of emission (gaseous, particulate and smoke) instrumentation and related equipment as well as operating a particulate filter weigh room and maintaining compressed gas cylinder supply to emission equipment.
A vast amount of time is required to troubleshoot, quickly identify and repair emissions related instrumentation equipment, with the objective to keep engineering lab emissions test downtime to a minimum. This position requires the individual to develop and maintain good interpersonal skills, as interfacing with other technicians and engineering personnel is required. Field Emission Technician
To maintain, diagnose, install emissions systems supported by Wyoming Machinery Company.
Regularly troubleshoot and inspect customer's equipment by visual inspection, and by the use of testing and diagnostic equipment to determine problems or malfunction. Regularly removes, repairs or replaces components or piece parts on CAS Systems, SCR Systems, E-Pod Systems, DOCS, DPFS and other various Emissions components and parts. These repairs must meet or exceed the expectations of the Gas Engine Service Operations Manager, Field Service Supervisor and the customer. Regularly writes detailed and accurate service reports stating the nature of the job and what has been done, as well as accurate and detailed data tracking reports as associated with CAS/CES Emissions Solutions. Ability to fabricate and install enclosures, configure hardware, and network devices together. Work with electronic controllers, ECMs, PLCs, radios, and various network hardware to acquire, collect, store, and transmit data for analysis. Ability to troubleshoot using visual inspection, testing hardware, and software.
Regularly reviews data from the troubleshooting and inspection process to assist in the creation of detailed, accurate and cost effective job estimates. Regularly reviews Emissions data and CAS component failures through tracking and data collecting as to work up detailed and accurate parts orders, as well as detailed and accurate Emissions, CAS Reports and Warranty Reports. Must work with a positive attitude and with a spirit of cooperation. Must have class B commercial drivers license. Assisting with rig moves in connecting and disconnecting networking cabling, backing up data from collection devices, working with IT or IS departments to maintain network integrity and security.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Must be able to read and understand English, read and understand parts books, service manuals, CAS parts and components, as well as electrical and Urea applications. Must have an electronics and mechanical background, the ability to think and work their way thru difficult projects or problems.
EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
Must have the ability to read and comprehend service literature and basic tools and to know and understand basic arithmetic. Must be able to write meaningful and legible service reports. Must know and understand the various types of Emissions systems associated to different kinds of Caterpillar engines and must be able to use their ability in a meaningful and productive manner during the course of their daily job assignments. IT networking protocols, ability to learn new technologies, ability to read and create wiring diagrams.
Exposure to Caterpillar Engines, CAS Systems, DOC components, Urea Systems, SCR, E-Pod Systems as well as Emissions Testing and Compliance Regulations thru Technical schools or on the job training preferred. IT networking, computer programming, and electronics installation.
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Regularly use: hand wrenches, hammers, impact tools, torque wrenches, screw drivers, basic measuring tools, overhead hoists, slings and chains, electrical testing equipment, hydraulic test equipment, as well as emissions testing and monitoring equipment and numerous other specialized testing and adjusting equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
In a normal workday a worker must:

Application Engineer - Emissions & Thermal Systems
As an Application Engineer, this position will work on products which reduce emissions and improve fuel economy for BorgWarner Emissions & Thermal Systems. As part of BorgWarner Emissions & Thermal Systems, he/she will work with OEM customers and a cross-functional global team to ensure design, testing and development of Emissions &Thermal products, preserving product integrity and functionality with respect to design intent and protecting the customer. This position will report directly to an Application Engineering Supervisor.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and document required product features based on customer and system requirements
Negotiate technical requirements and specifications with OEM customers
Work with the design department to create product design per vehicle packaging requirements
Coordinate technical reviews and submission of deliverables such as 3D data, customer approval drawings and component drawings in line with key program dates
Responsible for all activities related to development and delivery of prototype products for customers, plant, and internal uses; this may include: testing, analysis of test results, fault analysis, and problem solving.
Coordinate, track and execute validation testing with global team to ensure product conforms to customer specifications
Act as lead for technical project management to ensure programs are flawlessly launched while maintaining customer action lists and ensuring customer needs are met
Support a global cross-functional team by applying knowledge of product development cycle and APQP disciplines to meet all product deadlines
Provide problem solving support during launch, while in production, and in the field
Proactively seek out new customer opportunities with existing products or new products for continued business growth

Safety and Health – Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Greater than 3 years related automotive technical experience – Engine area preferred (especially exhaust gas recirculation systems)
Experience with DFMEA tool
Experience in simulation (FEA and CFD) analysis and interpretation
Experience in product design or application engineering with customer interaction
KEY JOB SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
Fluid and / or thermal dynamics experience
Strong understanding of product design concepts and processes
General understanding of drafting principle standards, including GD&T
Strong failure analysis and failure prevention skills
Strong risk analysis and mitigation skills
Learning on the Fly
