The primary function of this position is fabricating and assembling tubing by performing repetitive bench or line fabrication and assembly operations to mass-produce products such as shelter frame struts and subassemblies for shelter frames.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for machine set-up both manual and computer-driven.
Maintain quality production and safety standards.
Maintain high level of quality production by working to tolerance specifications of + 0.50 millimeters.
Troubleshoot problems and make appropriate adjustments in order to recover as quickly as possible from mechanical failures.
Perform preventive maintenance on machines.
Review production schedules and related information and confer with supervision to determine material requirements, identify overdue orders and to track material/orders.
Monitor status of all past due orders.
Assist in the training of temporary/new employees.
Arrange in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.
Enter/scan data into RS6000 system.
Compile and maintain manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in-process production reports, and status and location of materials.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
One year of production experience or similar in an assembly, carpentry or detail-oriented environment is preferred

Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and use calipers.
General computer and mathematical skills required along with good communication skills.

Plan and construct a wide variety of tools, dies, fixtures and gauges to very close tolerances, or construct more complex units where design is available.
Perform development work, layout and difficult tool room machine operations, fitting, timing and adjusting, e.g. combination dies for parts or irregular contour, box type drill jigs with difficult locating or nesting features, ordinary index milling fixtures.
Dismantles and repairs or replaces parts of damaged dies and fixtures, fits and assembles parts, and tests repaired dies for proper operation.
Operates cranes safely to remove and/or relocate dies to specific work stations/equipment.
Establishes and maintains an effective preventative maintenance program. Ensures all tools are properly fit for use.
Prepares sketches for machining of tool details.
Performs basic layout inspections of both tooling and manufactured components in press.
Must have all tools common to trade practice
Proficient in reading and working with blueprints.

- Build complex molds that include slides and micro corepins
- Manufacture mold components requiring carbide inserts
- Examines previously used molds and recommends design modifications regarding construction, gating and venting for improved function of molds
- Computes dimensions, plans layout and determines manufacturing method and sequence of operations
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, grinders, and electrical discharge machines and knowledge of CNC equipment to machine parts and fixturing required to build molds
- Utilize conventional and optical measurement equipment to verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances
- Heat treat of tooling and parts
- Lifts machined parts and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable
- Completion of Mold Makers apprentice program OR 10-15 years related experience and/or training- OR a combination of education and experience is acceptable
