Responsibilities & Qualifications

Provides instruction and technical guidance to trainees and/or peers in area(s) of specialty.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Associate's Degree in Toolmaking or related field is preferred.

Performs line boring on machine housing, cases, bearing, hubs, shafts, spindles, blocks, etc.
Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum five (5) years outside field Journey Machinist experience.
Machinist Journeyman Program, Knowledge of operating Bridge Port Milling machine, 7" – 14" -18" lathes, radial drill press, magna flux and surface grinding machines. Ability to read blue prints and manufacture parts to given tolerances. Ability to use all precision instruments. e.g., micrometers, calipers depth gauges and feeler gauges etc. Must be able to perform all mathematical problems. Able to maintain additional license or certifications as required. Must be certified in Magnetic Particles Inspection, and Liquid Penetrant Inspection. Good communications (verbal/written) skills. Able to complete/ fill-out written reports, records and forms.

Invalid, suspended, or revoked driver's license
Conviction of driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) within the preceding three (3) years
2 or more DUI or DWI convictions with no time limit.
Any accumulation of suspensions of over 1 year in length within the last 3 years

Tool & Die Maker
Performs skilled tasks using a variety of tools to construct, modify, maintain, calibrate and repair machine shop tools, dies, jigs and fixtures. Works with engineers and tool designers to develop and modify tools. Works from blueprints, databases, specifications and diagrams. Checks work with precision instruments
Nature of Duties:
Must be able to make intelligent decisions for any mold repair problems that arise when supervisory people are not available.
Must have the ability to work with extreme accuracy on any type of tool work.
Set-up and operate all machine tools and equipment, use various hand tools and precision measuring instruments common to the trade.
Heat treat small tool and die parts, make special cutters and mills, dress grinding wheels as needed.
Weld and braze with Heli Arc, Oxcy Acetylene or TIG equipment, repair and replace parts in hydraulic equipment.
Install electrical items for plastic molding and die cast tooling.
Make ejector pins, core pins, make gate changes, K.O. bars, clean and polish mold cavities.
Basic computer skills needed.
Other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Prefer 2 year degree in Machine Tool with 1-2 years of tooling experience in a manufacturing environment.
