This job requires a dynamic person who can work in a fun and fast paced work environment. We're a smaller company that specializes in welding and custom fabrication of just about anything under the sun. being able to not just function but thrive in a job shop environment is important. if you are looking to weld the same thing every day, week in and week out then just click the next button now.
Above and beyond your uncanny ability to create a flame with a Bic or a Zippo you need to be an all around good welder and more than proficient with MIG,TIG, & Stick, be able run a torch as well as a plasma cutter and be smart enough to know when to use which technique for best results. have a broad knowledge of which filler will work best with which base metals. you should have a healthy stash of "tricks of the trades" and "short cuts" and know the difference between those and a bad decision. Pile a load of common sense in on top of that and you might be a good candidate. if you have experience running a laser/water jet/or plasma table and can program CNC equipment that's a great big plus, and that might even kick you up to a great candidate. there is room for advancement, we are a growing company and wish to keep it that way.
A hands on background would be helpful and basic knowledge about mechanics and how nuts and bolts hold the world together is pretty much a must, you need to have more than just the basic slag hammer and a helmet, while it's not a competition to see who has the bigger tool box, being well equipped to do your job is part of being a professional, actually knowing how to use those tools would earn extra points for sure. we have a pretty well equipped facility to help make the job better including but not limited to

your fork lift driving abilities do not need to be legendary, but if the guys in your current shop call you "Captain Ahab" because you are always harpooning something you may not be what we are looking for, you should be accountable for your own actions, be honest, and able to own up to a screw up should one occur. but sharp enough to not have them raining down on you like you live under a black cloud.
we are a job shop that services a variety of industries so you could be repair welding machinery one day and the next week be building parts for a nuclear particle accelerator, and all points in between there. being able to do the work that pays the bills regardless of what it is, is the name of the game. some days you get dirty, some days not so much, but if you're a primadonna then take your tiara and head for the next posting please. you need to be ready to kick ass on a daily basis and not need a babysitter to do so. if I have to chase you around to keep you working then I'm probably better off not hiring you. Problem solving skills and a go-getter attitude will fit in well since people like to bring us their new and creative ways they have come up with to screw stuff up. Attention to detail is important because we don't want to be the next in that line of bad decisions .
You must play well with others, personality will be a factor in our decision we want to like coming to work as much as you do, so we try to make it as pleasant a place as possible you should be willing and able to do the same. If you have virgin ears, are easily offended, or are overly sensitive, you may want to pass on this job. We are a colorful group here and sometimes we may use colorful adjectives to describe things, this is after all a shop environment. Politically correct is not a way of life around here. that being said ignorant and abusive will be very short lived and "stirring the pot" won't be tolerated since causing problems in the shop is bad news.
Field work is part of our operation, we have state of the art field trucks that are equipped with MIG, TIG, & stick as well as plasma cutters. so occasionally we might turn you loose upon the unsuspecting public for a field job. You must be able to present yourself well and have appropriate people skills to engage the customers without costing us customers. being a self starter and managing your time well is of course a requirement, sleeping in your truck is highly frowned upon, and if you're really good at it you could look forward to the distinction of the companies "most recently unemployed award"
