Checks die boards for accuracy when they come in.
Reviews daily printing and die cutting schedules for dies needed for production.
Coordinates die needs with Structural Design Department.
Assembles dies, stripping boards, and blanking tools for Die Cutting department.
Verifies dies against samples in job bag for special requirements that are customer requested.
Verifies work is error-free prior to release to Die Cutting department.
Trouble shoots and alters any die issues on press.
Pulls repeat dies from inventory for new runs.
Files dies back into inventory after run is complete and destroys combination dies as needed.
Requisitions supplies and maintains accurate inventory of materials needed.
Maintains a clean and safe work area.

Must be proficient in the operation and maintenance of a jig saw, and be able to modify dies as needed.

The Cabinetmaker Lead Tech is responsible for producing cabinets, fixtures. Architectural millwork and wood furniture for the university.
Acts as a lead to cabinetmaker technicians and other personnel, providing training, technical expertise and assistance in performing wood projects, using various cabinetmaking materials and techniques. May coordinate the work activities of less experience cabinetmaker personnel. Inspects job sites and plans repairs. Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion is essential to this job.
High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 7+ years of related experience in cabinetmaking doing a variety of woodwork. Certifications obtained while employed by Liberty University at the expense of the employer will be reimbursed back to the University upon voluntary termination (resignation) for the first 12 months after acquiring it.
Must be detailed oriented, strong organizational skills and well-developed communications skills.
1.With minimal supervision, fabricates the most complex cabinets, fixtures and furniture with materials such as wood, veneer, and laminates.

The Sample Maker must have good steel and plastic fabrication skills including use of brake presses, welding and finishing experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications of tools, dies, prototypes or models
Provide close production support, such as troubleshooting and repair of production machines
Compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools
Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional and (CNC) machine tools to cut, turn, mill, drill, bore, grind or otherwise shape work piece to prescribed dimensions and finish
Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), vernier calipers, micrometers, and electronic measuring devices
