The Bag Machine Operator is responsible for operating Bag Machines which convert printed and unprinted semi-finished film into bags according to customer specifications.
1.Operate tester and bag machine equipment in a safe manner.
2.Inspect bags for defects and quality issues as outlined by internal and external standards.
3.Fold cartons, load rolls of film, change rolls of tape, and setup orders on machine.
4.Operate a hoist/use the strap in safe manner
5.Maintain product quality and standards, send bag samples when required.
6.Record all measurements on production paperwork and test results on tester paperwork.
7.Perform clearance work on tagged cartons.
8.Troubleshoot and repair machines when possible to maximize run time.
9.Report unplanned down time of machines to assist in trouble shooting issues.
10. Report all unsafe operating conditions to supervisors and managers.
11. Understand and follow all JSA's, and Product Safety guidelines.
12. Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
13. Understand and maintain Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSIs)
14. Clean and Maintain a clutter free work environment aligned with lean initiatives.
15. Relieve other machines for breaks and meetings.
16. May have to run 2 machines depending on production needs.
Must possess basic computer skills
Must possess the ability to operate basic hand tools
Strong communication skills and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
Ability to read and write English.
Demonstrate ability to use basic math skills.
The position requires an employee to stand and walk for an extended period of time. Exposure to moderate noise levels and potentially hazardous materials.

POSITION TITLE: Helper
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor
Responsible for all activities associated with Feeding the machine , stacking the equipment and helping the operators including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Read and follow instructions on factory masters.
Load sheets into the feeder section of the Machine
Set-up bundler, hold down arm, load former, and delivery end of machine accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
Secure proper cover sheets, tie sheets, and load tags for production runs.
Stack finished boxes in accordance with factory master.
Ensure each unit has proper top and bottom cover sheets, tie sheets, and load tags.
Monitor quality of boxes and report quality problems to Operator.
Assist operator and first helper as necessary.
Ensure correct bundle and unit counts.
Report final count of piece unit to operator.
Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner.
Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
Helps operators adhere to production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor.
Additional duties may be assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED.

- Prior Experience in a manufacturing environment
Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Set up and operate blow molding machine to mold plastic products according to specifications: Turn valves to start flow of water and release air pressure to machine.
- Moves machine controls to set timing unit and temperature of heating unit and start automatic feed mechanism.
- Adjust machine mandrel and align mandrel with mold chamber, using wrenches.
- Start molding machine that automatically feeds material from mixing unit to mandrel and to mold chamber.
