Questions Summary Statement Monitors operations of Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), bag screening, and delivery processes. Monitors cameras and computer software programs.
Utilizes baggage system software to control various functions of the BHS operation and responds to BHS alarms to resolve issues with system faults, and component evolutions. Performs inspection, repair and maintenance on system components. Works independently or as a crew member under general supervision.
This position will work up to 9-months for an average of 40 hours per week. Essential Functions Monitors communications status and sub-system controls for the purpose of verifying operational status of all Baggage Handling System(BHS) mechanical, electrical and network functions. Executes system-wide commands through use of Glideview workstations to correct BHS screening and delivery faults.
Performs belt condition inspections and annotates findings on Belt Condition Report. Monitors BHS conveyor/component operations via CCTV cameras. (45%) Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs baggage conveyors, motor feedbacks, pulse wheels, photo eyes, circuit breakers, belts, motors, bar scanners, fuses, and diverter arm blade faults. (20%) Receives and logs phone requests for work orders from vendors, airlines, tenants, and other customers. Notifies appropriate maintenance personnel via radio or phone of pending work orders.
Advises caller of work order status when necessary. Maintains and updates computerized daily logs for all BHS, facility maintenance and work order requests. (15%) Performs Manual Encode (ME) functions, using hand-scanner for the purpose of updating tracking program and to verify security-screening status of all bags routed into the Manual Encode Room. Determines passenger identification and matches air carrier for bag disposition.
Coordinates alternative screening methods with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) per screening protocols when mechanical or network failures results in delays of baggage handling processing. Coordinates with technical support vendor regarding baggage system issues. (10%) Performs variety of monthly preventative maintenance and housekeeping tasks facility wide using assortment of hand tools, high reach lift equipment, industrial sweepers, loaders, forklifts, etc. and other duties as assigned.
