Feed various grades of cardboard and paper onto the Baler conveyor consistently and effectively and efficiently so as to maximize the value of the products sorted and make the maximum of the labor required to do so.
Keep sorted material supplied to the baler and enable continued processing operation.
Maximize the selling value of the sorted materials by effective and precise sorting and production (put to action by excellent planning, and staging of material).
When processing paper or cardboard products that are packaged or bundled in a manner which contains more than one category of product break open those packages or bundles in an efficient and effective manner and sort the grades of cardboard and paper into their proper categories so as to maximize the value of the sorted products.
Operate all equipment in the area in an efficient, safe and effective manner.
As you are working report any leaks, spills, malfunctions or other conditions which need the attention of the maintenance department.
Maximize the Baled Value of the materials and minimize the labor costs of the baling operation by planning and staging the material. Working well with other employees in order to maintain effectiveness and efficiency of the baling line crew and the baling line equipment.
Bobcat (steer loader) experience a plus.
Complies with safety rules and regulations; wear steel toed shoes or coverings, hearing protection, safety glasses, shields and gloves as needed, is not involved in horseplay, is cautious when near equipment and machines, maintains housekeeping in work area.
All other duties as assigned.
Must be able to become certified to operate material handling equipment.
Experience: Minimum: Previous manufacturing experience.
Preferred: 1 or more years previous manufacturing experience.

Segregates colors and grades of paper.
Transports bales to the scale by operating the fork truck.
Weighs bales and records weight, type of bale and the ticket number. Documents the weight of the bale and initials the bale ticket, attaching the ticket to the bale. Office copy is removed and submitted to supervisor at the end of each shift.

The Baler Operator is responsible for weighing, recording, and processing all accumulated waste through the auger and baler. Essential to place carts containing waste onto scales, record weight, deduct cart weight to achieve net weight of waste.
Essential to segregate core weight, and in certain circumstances, record the net core weight. Essential to feed waste materials onto the auger infeed belt, activate the belt, and monitor the process through the cyclone and baler. Essential to tend to plugups in the cyclone, climbing to the roof to unplug the cyclone.
Essential to engage the auger system and essential to turn the baler off and on. Essential to operate motorized hand truck to move carts about in the hogger and baler area. Essential to unwind paper from cores and place onto scissor lift at auger infeed area, and raise lift to the auger belt level.
Essential to move 100 lb. spools of baling wire onto spindles, essential to thread baling wire onto the baler. Essential to complete waste report and turn in along with waste tags to the foreman. Essential to perform cleanup activities around the auger and baler area, scraping materials from the machine area onto the floor, essential to pick up trash and debris.
Essential to strip damaged rolls of paper until a usable roll is achieved. Essential to clear out the auger section if jammed, using pipe pole to unjam waste from this area. It is essential to attend any meetings as required, essential to maintain an awareness of accessing MS DS materials, it is essential to maintain an awareness of obligations pertaining to attendance, call ins, other specific information required by the company.
Essential to attend training sessions. It may be essential to work in other areas as assigned. The auger infeed table is at a 30" vertical height, belt control buttons and switches at the auger are a 62" to 66" vertical height, the scale touch pad is at approximately a 78" vertical height and above the auger controls.
An extended forward reach at a 3' vertical height is required to unjam the auger area. The baler control buttons and switches are at a 5' vertical height, the baler spools are stationed at a 10" to 40" vertical height. Three sets of steps, totaling 29 steps, are required to access the roof cyclone.

Baler Operator (38539)
Tend machines that shred and/or compresses and binds paper by-products generated from the print manufacturing process to facilitate disposition of the waste materials. Thread tie bands around bale and twists or clamps ends of bands to tighten bands.
Opens compression chamber doors and removes bale from machine. Truck bales to storage location using air lifts, pallet jacks or hoist trucks. Complete daily forklift condition report.
Weight the bales and keep records of the gross weight, materials grade of the bales. Perform routine maintenance on the baling machinery and remove obstructions in the cyclone as needed. May load bales on trucks, rail cars for disposal and complete shipping manifest. May photograph container and seal for verification purposes.
Requires knowledge of standard set ups, adjustments and operating characteristics of the equipment and skill to perform standard adjustments and operate the equipment. Ability to set up, operate, and perform basic adjustments to the equipment according to the individual job requirements, operating characteristics, and capabilities of the equipment. Typically, the adjustments performed at this level are routine and the need for such adjustments are readily apparent.

Operate loader, forklift, bobcat, or other equipment to move material to designated area.
Keep surrounding work areas clean.
Unloads, tags, and stacks material in proper rows by raising and lowering lifting device.
Loads or unloads materials into or out of trailers and railcars.
Move material from baler.
Dump containers, bins, and gaylords of materials.
Read loading, unloading sheets and bills of ladings.
Complete necessary load and unload tally sheets.
Inspect and grade wastepaper that is received at plant.
Ensure that vehicle condition reports are filled out properly as required by corporate guidelines.
Complies with all safety policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

The Baler loads and operates either a vertical or horizontal baling machines (with hopper and conveyer belt) with textiles, cardboard, paper and recycle plastic as a member of our Salvage team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safe operation of the baler machines.
Material is processed, compacted, strapped and ejected onto a forklift for further transport.
