Keeps area around Air Hammer Strippers clear of waste.
Loads compactors with paper waste.
Removes waste from compactor that has been compressed.
Segregates different types of waste for recycling purposes.
Assists in moving pallets of printed materials throughout department.
Responsible for general housekeeping of area.

Baler Machine Operator
Operates as a fully participating and effective team member of a production line within the scope of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) required of this position. Aids in the performance and work flow of the production line by removing the waste product from the line.
Operates at least one major piece of equipment on any of the balers.Perform all the daily basic safety checks and observations, quality checks, checklists, and housekeeping

Ensure compliance to the recycling process of empty component boxes
Utilizes computer interface panels to operate the equipment

Continually process bale carts per company standards
Distinguish and sort out merchandise that does not go into the baler, such as shoes, purses and hard goods
Operate Baler and tile off bales following all safety requirements

Our Staunton, VA facility to looking for Baler Operators. These positions follow our 12hr shifts; either day, 7am-7pm or night, 7pm-7am. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the bailing equipment to bind trimmings and paper waste received from the manufacturing areas.
Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Operate and maintain bailing equipment
Collects all paper/board waste from manufacturing

The Baler loads and operates either a vertical or horizontal baling machines (with hopper and conveyer belt) with textiles, cardboard, paper and recycle plastic as a member of our Salvage team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safe operation of the baler machines.
Material is processed, compacted, strapped and ejected onto a forklift for further transport.
Keeping the salvage area safe, clean and organized.
Ensuring that all safety rules are strictly followed to prevent injury with the use of pneumatic machines.
HTP-41 Containers are inspected and sorted according to condition.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be able to obtain a Valid First Aid card, which meets OSHA and WISHA standards within 30 days of hire.
Must have the ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
Basic arithmetic skills.
Physical Demands: Bending, lifting, and reaching are all repetitive movements that are required to perform this position.
Standing for an 8hr. shift should be expected. Personal protective gear is required and/or issued to perform operations of the baler machines. The ideal candidate would be able to lift 50 pounds repetitively.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work near moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the work environment can be high. The duties are primarily performed indoors, with open bay doors to the external environment.

The Baler Operator reports to the Facilities & Operations Supervisor, or the Terminal Operations Manager. The Baler Operator is responsible for the set up, operation, and maintenance of the baler while ensuring that all of his/her efforts are compliant with the company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Duties may include processing products through the baler to shape, form, and compress materials. This position is regularly exposed to all weather conditions. Physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt are present due to the equipment, machinery, and scrap as would be found throughout the scrap yard. Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, face shields, and additional personal protective equipment as needed, must be worn to eliminate the risks associated with these hazards. Travel is not required for this position.
Handling multiple issues regarding safety and maintenance increases pressure. Work load may be unpredictable and pressure can be substantial during peak times. Critical deadlines require considerable adaptability. Disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis. Extra hours may be required, sometimes on weekends, weekdays, and holidays.

Baler Operator (39829)
Tend machines that shred and/or compresses and binds paper by-products generated from the print manufacturing process to facilitate disposition of the waste materials. Thread tie bands around bale and twists or clamps ends of bands to tighten bands.
Opens compression chamber doors and removes bale from machine. Truck bales to storage location using air lifts, pallet jacks or hoist trucks. Complete daily forklift condition report.
Weight the bales and keep records of the gross weight, materials grade of the bales. Perform routine maintenance on the baling machinery and remove obstructions in the cyclone as needed. May load bales on trucks, rail cars for disposal and complete shipping manifest. May photograph container and seal for verification purposes.
Requires knowledge of standard set ups, adjustments and operating characteristics of the equipment and skill to perform standard adjustments and operate the equipment. Ability to set up, operate, and perform basic adjustments to the equipment according to the individual job requirements, operating characteristics, and capabilities of the equipment. Typically, the adjustments performed at this level are routine and the need for such adjustments are readily apparent.
