Compactor and Baler Technician Main Duties:
- Repair, diagnose, inspect, and maintain all makes and models of Vertical Balers, Trash Compactors, Self-Contained Trash Compactors, Electric Jacks, Dock Levelers, Edge of Docks, Dock Seals, and Handicap Carts / Scooters
- Provide courteous and professional service
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with Company and OSHA Standards
- 2+ years’ experience diagnosing and repairing compactors, balers, and/or other industrial equipment

The primary function of this job is to operate the balers, load out by-product
bales and maintain a safe and clean environment. This person will provide
direction, assist and work closely with the Hoist Operators, including operating

Perform routine daily inspection on hoist and assures maintenance needs are reported. May include battery service duties such as inspecting, recharging and replacing batteries, checking fluid levels, cleaning electrical leads and battery poles and lubricating moving parts.
Complete daily logbook to ensure communication from shift to shift and for Coordinator and Supervisor information gathering

Tend machines that shred and/or compresses and binds paper by-products generated from the print manufacturing process to facilitate disposition of the waste materials. Thread tie bands around bale and twists or clamps ends of bands to tighten bands. Truck bales to storage location using pallet jacks or fork lifts. Complete daily PIV safety checklist. Weight the bales and keep records of the gross weight, materials grade of the bales. Perform weekly routine maintenance on the baling machinery and remove obstructions in the cyclone as needed. May load bales on trucks for disposal and complete shipping manifest.

The Baler Operator operates and maintains bailing equipment to bind trimmings and paper waste received from the Press/Bindery equipment. They are responsible for general cleanliness and removal of all paper printing product waste.
Removes jams from baler and cyclone.
Maintains supplies needed from the baler room and obtains new supplies when necessary.
Removes bale from machine and stack, tag and place each bale in its defined area.
Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lockout-tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies.

The Baler Operator reports to the Facilities & Operations Supervisor, or the Terminal Operations Manager. Extra hours may be required, sometimes on weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
