What You Will Do:
Reviews filling and packaging instructions at beginning of line runs. Ensures that the correct packaging materials are available. Ensures that the correct Personal Protective Equipment is available and other safety procedures are understood and followed. Asks Supervisor for assistance, if needed.
Ensures that the line is set up correctly per the filling and packaging instructions. Adjusts the line as necessary or asks Supervisor or Maintenance Tech for assistance.
Operates filling and packaging equipment continually. Types of equipment could include filler, sleeve labeler, cappers, tape machine, bar coders, ink jet printer, hand wrenches, hand stamps, palletizers, and lid presses. Adjusts equipment to control weight, closures, or other as required by the specifications.
Performs all operations on the lines, including loading lines with empty containers, labeling, filling, capping, bar coder generation, taking samples, keeping area clean and organized and other related activities.
Actively participate in Kaizens, 5S and special projects
Continuingly identify opportunities for system and process waste elimination
Completes and documents activities that measure quality and productivity in an accurate and timely manner. This could include taking weights and performing basic quality tests. Enters results on paper or in computer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Proficiently use a hand-held scanner to process orders and control stock going in and out of the plant.
At the beginning of each order, read order notes and instructions and select container type.
Go to specified pick location, find the part number identified and scan (or type in, if necessary) the location code of the first item listed.
Pick the needed product quantity, scan the product label and place the item(s) in/on the container/pallet. If there is no product label, proceed with making/printing a product bar code for one to be scanned in this process.
Continue finding locations/part numbers, picking needed quantities and scanning labels until each item on the order has been packed.

SCOPE AND IMPACT:

Provide supervision and manage performance of hourly Operations employees to meet or exceed goals for safety, quality, throughput, productivity, cost, and schedule attainment. Achieve operational success through the "PCC Toolbox", proactive management, innovative thinking, optimistic and aggressive leadership, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Motivate employees by using a proactive approach to creative problem solving. Demonstrate relentless determination in identifying and correcting problems, along with displaying strong and focused leadership and resiliency at all times.
Supervise 20-80 hourly Operations employees on an assigned shift, or across multiple shifts and departments as required by Operations Manager
Ensure safety of all employees by proactively identifying and implementing sustainable safety improvements, in addition to aggressively investigating and determining root causes for all incidents and near misses. Strictly adhere to plant safety, housekeeping, and 5S efforts.
Relentless emphasis on compliance with all quality policies and procedures, including multiple daily audits to ensure compliance and effective execution. Ensure quality expectations are followed and met on a daily basis.
Create and communicate efficient production plans at individual work centers, while assigning and managing the workload of hourly employees. Communicate plans, priorities, and results to hourly employees, with frequent follow-up to confirm employees understand the message and are executing correctly
In real-time and with urgency, manage and optimize resources required to execute tactical operational plans and action items at the shop floor level. Proactively identify and resolve manufacturing constraints.
Provide immediate answers to questions about the current state of all equipment, inventory placement, personnel, progress to production plans, and other tactical production details. Additionally, the Supervisor is expected to summarize performance to past operational metrics, current progress to daily targets, and planned performance as necessary
Balance an improvement focus with the fundamental supervisory requirement of managing and executing operational details at the shop floor level on a real-time, continuous basis. Significant amounts of time engaged in the details of activities on the shop floor (over 75%)
Gain appropriate buy-in from other departments and employees, while complying with mandatory business controls, prior to implementing improvement ideas
Consistent and reliable completion and follow-up of action items
Become personally and urgently involved in hourly employee training, qualification, and discipline. Appraise performance of employees and provide feedback as needed. Hold employees accountable for performance problems, and reward employees for exceptional performance. Assist in resolving complaints. Communicate issues and results on a daily basis.
Schedule hourly employees to optimize productivity and throughput, and confirm accuracy of time worked.
Become highly competent in the details of all operational processes and procedures sufficient to creatively solve problems, make informed decisions, and train employees
Identify, develop, and implement Lean Manufacturing improvements.
Ensure best practices are being followed throughout the plant.
Track continuous improvement opportunities where performance issues are apparent and provide leadership/action plans for gap closure.
Completion of a four year technical degree program
Two years of experience in a salaried manufacturing leadership position, with involvement in managing production employees
Excellent theoretical and applied mathematical skills, with an ability to quickly compile and analyze data to spotlight problem root causes and identify robust solutions
Solid attention to detail, ability to focus on complex tasks, and strong sense of urgency
Ability to rapidly identify and correct technical problems using project management skills, a logical approach to problem solving, analytical skills, and a big-picture understanding with short term tactical focus
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with hourly employees, cross-functional peers, and upper level management, with Skill in altering communication tone to suit the intended audience

Fill Machine Operator (Nights)
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Perform various operations within the Solutions Department such as: set-up and operation of filling equipment, supplies Filler and Overwrap machine with material, assist to resolve production stoppages and perform general cleaning duties.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform functions that require full knowledge of general aspects of the job. Maintain a high level of productivity at all times.
Directly paces Filling operation to achieve production goals.
Print and inspects empty bags in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and applicable BPR.
Properly load and monitor filler performance in order to maintain a low reject rate levels and prevent damage to machinery.
Load overwrap machine and provide a continuous product flow.
Inspect filled. Finished bags for acceptable quality criteria in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and applicable BPR.
May provide assistance to junior staff with more general support tasks that require a better understanding of functions, as directed by immediate supervisor.
May refer to senior staff for assistance with higher level problems that may arise.
Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution, as deemed necessary.
Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.

Material Handler - Seasonal
Johnstone Supply, Inc., a national leading wholesaler of HVACR parts, equipment and tools has a Distribution Center in the Alburtis, PA area. We are seeking qualified Material Handler candidates. Our Alburtis facility is a fast paced operation that provides high level quality service to our Northeast membership base.
Fills store orders by picking orders according to section number, packing items into cartons and stacking them in a manner that minimizes shipping damage, entering items into scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork.
Documents the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing necessary paperwork.
Prepares orders for shipment by: preparing trucks for shipments; palletizing and wrapping orders; loading pallets and pieces into trucks; placing packing list in last skid; and completing necessary paperwork.
Receives product into the distribution center by unloading trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet or by hand.
Ensures shipments received are in good condition and accurate by: inspecting freight for damage and signing freight bills; verifying quantity ordered versus quantity received; checking all shipments against packing lists; and completing necessary paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies.
Ensures all required product has verified bar code labels and human readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving labeling discrepancies, and completing necessary paperwork.
Stores checked-in products by stocking picking stock, filling bin boxes, facing cartons, checking for product mixing, and rotating product where needed.
Ensures products are readily available to order fillers by: monitoring stock on shelves or bins; replenishing picking stock from reserves; maintaining control of products in reserve stock area; and monitoring "Pull Tickets" and giving priority to Shipping department requests.
Maintains current department accuracy and efficiency standards, and follows department standard operating procedures.
Ideal candidates will have:
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift up to 70 lbs
1 to 3 months previous Material Handler/Warehouse experience highly preferred
Previous reach truck experience preferred
Handheld RF Scanner experience a plus
