We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate Activity Instructor - Master Barber, Academic & Career Enrichment Program to plan and implement a Barbering curriculum that will prepare students to pass the Barber Apprentice examination and work as a Barber in a local shop.

HOURS: Up to 15 Hours/Week; Non-Exempt; 20-week Cycles
Create and facilitate robust curriculum in Barbering
Develop partnerships with local organizations to provide free student haircuts so the class gets to practice the craft.
Teach students the etiquette and professionalism of barbering.
Responsible for the setup, operation and clean up of activities and the organization, inventory and storing of relevant supplies and equipment.
Articulate expectations to students and colleagues on what aspect of the class work needs to be strengthened and practiced in preparation for the next class.
Participate in staff trainings, meetings and development activities as specified
Attend all staff meetings and staff development training sessions, as specified.
Perform other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required; licensed Master Barber with a minimum of 5 years' experience required
Experience in developing group lesson plans and leading group activities preferred.
Must be able to engage young people and set structure and limits in a group setting.
Demonstrated written, verbal, organizational, and prioritization skills.
Capability to transition easily between working independently with a high degree of self- initiative and working a part of a team.
Proven participant sensibility and ability to communicate with staff on all levels.
Prior experience teaching preferred

Purpose of Position:

This position is a Pay Band 30.
High school diploma or GED, and must be at least 17 years of age and have graduated from a State-licensed barber or cosmetology school and three (3) months paid experience as a barber.

BARBER POSITION SUMMARY
The position of Barber Attendant reports directly to the Spa & Fitness Supervisor, but may often work directly with the Spa & Wellness Director. The Barber Attendant is responsible for acquiring and implementing the skills and language programs as provided for by BlueStar Resort & Golf, to assure exceptional first class service for our members.
The Barber Attendant will be responsible for maintaining the highest levels of quality, comfort and service in the Men's Locker Room Facility for all members and guests. The Barber Attendant will provide barbering services, such as cutting, trimming, shampooing and styling hair, trimming beards or giving shaves.
BARBER ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
Barber Attendant reports directly to the Spa & Fitness Supervisor.
BARBER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures the "Trilogy Experience" for members and guests by maintaining the standards set in the Trilogy 10.
Adheres to policies of the facility and BlueStar Resort & Golf.
Responsible for performing opening and closing duties in the locker barber room area
Greet members and guests as they arrive
Attend to member and guests needs until their stay is done
Keep the locker room facility clean and orderly
Report and document safety hazards, potentially hazardous conditions, and unsafe practices and procedures
Monitor members and guests facility use to ensure that rules and regulations are followed, and safety and order are maintained
Clean and sterilize scissors, combs, clippers, and other instruments
Cut and trim hair according to client's instructions and or current hairstyle, using clippers, combs, hand-held blow driers and scissors.
Drape and pin protective cloths around customer's shoulders.
Question patrons regarding desired services and haircut styles.
Clean work station and sweep floors.
Shape and trim beards and moustaches using scissors.
Apply lather, and have beards or neck and temple hair contours, using razors.
Stay informed of the latest styles and hair care techniques.
Suggest treatments to alleviate hair problems.
Understands and uses universal precautions when providing services. Assesses contraindications of guest that may prevent service from taking place.
Maintains the highest level of product knowledge and has complete knowledge of all spa services presently offered.
Recommends products for home use with a minimum service to sales ratio of 25%.
Suggests to members other beneficial treatments offered in the salon/spa.
Understands the ingredients in products and can explain their benefits to the members. Answers member's/client questions in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
Begins and ends all treatments on time.
Works assigned schedule.
Ensures that work areas are clean and set according to procedures.
Informs Spa & Fitness Supervisor, of product needs.

Responsible for using scissors or clippers to trim, cut, shave, or shape hair in a barbershop.
