Batch Assistant III
JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Employee will follow approved training matrix and direction of Batch Operator I, II and III to become knowledgeable in the batch assistant position. Employee will assist the batcher in the formulation of sauces. Employee will be required to assist and/or formulate products according to established MSPs. Will be required to process raw materials into sauces by manually weighing out and dumping dry ingredients into blend tanks and/or operate blend equipment by a central process computer system. Incumbent will be required to fill in for Batch Operator I and/or II when needed.
Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follows approved safety rules, GMPs and standard operating procedures while blending raw materials into sauces (using blending tanks, transfer pumps and heat exchangers) through a central process computer system.
- Consistently and with accuracy keeps track and documents ingredient lot numbers with the use of scanners and/or computer keyboard.
- Shall be able to run batching and sanitation equipment.
- Shall know how to batch and APV batch adjustments.
- Shall be capable of making adjustment after verify with their lead.
- Shall understand the differences in heating sources and how they work.
- Shall be able to set up the lines for both production process and CIP process.
- Follows approved sanitation standard operating procedures in completing CIP and COP of the process equipment and room. Also, completes correctly and accurately CIP/COP paperwork.
- Knows how to read, understand, and follow the MSP. Also, be capable of identifying CCPs and understand variance procedures.
- Understands and follows recycling program.
- Fills out work orders when repairs are needed on equipment and/or processing rooms.
- Thorough shift pass-down with oncoming operator.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned by supervisor.
Assist Batch operator in equipment start-up, shut down and CIP as required.
Follow all GMPs, ensure that proper safety equipment is being worn: gloves, safety glasses, face shield, and earplugs.
Ensure that all equipment to be used is operational.
Maintain good communication and reports all discrepancies to the Batcher and/or Shift Supervisor such as maintenance problems, operations problems, and product specification discrepancies, etc.
Understand daily safety, quality and production goals.
Verify that all paper work is correct and corresponds with the product being produced.
Ensure all paperwork is complete and legible.
Will participate in safety tailgates.
Maintains a clean working environment at all times.

Ensures product and process quality and performs activities to facilitate the release of product to the marketplace. Performs 100% process document review for accuracy and completeness and works closely in a team environment to ensure timely review and documentation is done right first time. Performs 100% audit of process documents to ensure completeness and accuracy for assigned End to End (E2E). Maintains any tracking databases and logs associated with this review.
Coordinates with Production to discuss, resolve, and eliminate documentation observations. Actively participates in the Tier process and uses this forum to escalate concerns and best practices. Bachelor's degree required with a Technical emphasis in an appropriate scientific or engineering field preferred; candidates with majors in other fields will be considered if accompanied by significant relevant experience.
Familiarity with vaccine and/or pharmaceutical processing desired 1+ year of relevant post-degree work experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or quality position required Evidence of good oral and written communication skills, i.e. effective presentation of concepts and ideas, as well as interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Attention to detail, flexibility and an awareness of production and attendant quality control problems. PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Create and issue Batch Production Records through BPR Builder. Responsible for issuing the Master schedule for the current month along with all SOP's referring to issuing records and expiration. Issue the hot stamp printing plates that match, and lot number/expiration slugs with every BPR following the Solution, Saline and Connecter master daily/monthly schedule set by the Production Planner Responsible for all DN's and SPR's attached to the BPR's. Enter in daily production data received from the department superintends into the daily/monthly master schedule for Solutions, Saline and Connectors. Maintain all daily production reports. Obtain and record all downtime on the lines and subassembly areas. Responsible to forward all daily production reports to various levels of the department Review all Batch Production Records for accuracy and completeness for finished product, bags, connectors, subassembly, rework, and Daily Cleaning packets. Input all data into the PD Release file, for release to perform their duties in a timely fashion. Coordinate with the Release Operators any errors that need to be fixed or issues that may arise. Responsible for writing and following through with all production related NCR's and DS's. Provide a team leader direction in relations to the departments and assists all Superintends. Keep Solutions, Saline and Connectors operating in an efficient and complainant manner.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and issue Batch Production Records for PD, Saline, Connector, and Bag Production, including printer setup pages and required DN's and SPR's. Distribute prepared BPR's to the production department as needed to support the production schedule.
Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
Coordinate with material management all Lot Accountability Forms. At the end of every month, collect and account for all unused forms and destroy. Initiate and record month end measurements.
Coordinate with the Validation coordinators with any issues that may raise with DN's, SPR's and BPR Builder. Notify the Production Planner if issues cannot be fixed and any possible schedule change.
Issue Daily Cleaning Packet for Solutions and Saline. Required to read the air handling gauges every day and include them in the daily packets, then forward to release for review.
Review Batch Production Records and any attached documentation for completeness and accuracy. Make required entries or follow up with the Manager and Superintends for additional routing to complete records. Monitor individual employee's performance and assists employees needing additional training. Coach, help, and explain all errors or omissions to the operators so the mistake can be resolved, prior to submitting the completed BPR to the Release Coordinators.
Compile and maintain records tracking BPR errors so they can be used in improving the BPR completion and submittal process.
Enter data and publish error report. Work closely with the Superintends on errors with the BPR's. Process the paperwork in a timely manner in the office, then forward to release for review.
Recognize discrepant records and follow through to make sure they are corrected or an NCR or DS is written. Once written and approved, forward to release for review. Create tickler copies and forward to all the correct personal.
Enter Production data into computer for the Daily Production Report. Then forward to all the correct personnel.
Review cleaning packet to ensure all areas including Bag Room, Formulation, Fill lines, Sterilization, Pack-out and all tanks and fillers are cleaned daily. If any discrepancies are found follow the correct chain of events and follow through. Notify all the correct personal.
Daily check and record air handler readings to ensure gauges are within parameters, then attach to the daily cleaning packets for review. Once reviewed forward to release.
Review Sterilization for completeness and to ensure that all parameters are met.
Organize and forward Batch Production Records and Cleaning Packets to the Release Coordinator.
Responsible for correct BPR packet at the point of release.
Coordinate any additional sample and discarded cases with materials management. Make sure the appropriate paperwork gets issued for the lot packet to balance.
Responsible for all Solutions and Saline print plates. Coordinate with the machine shop to have the plates holes drilled. Then get with the department and have samples printed then forward to Incoming Release for release of the product. Notify the Production Planner of any issue that may arise.
Responsible for daily production readings on the air handling gauges. If production is running the gauges have to be taken.
Enter pack-out reject information into computer database.
Enter fill reject information into computer database.
Enter data into Equipment Usage Database, providing information on Production, Sterilization and equipment used. Maintain that the database is current during machine changes within the departments.
Coordinate rework logistics.
Cross train in the Solutions Logistics Clerk position in order to have the ability to fill in as required.
Verify that all jobs, documentations and safety rules are in compliance.
Asses and maintain accuracy of applicable procedures and implement changes as required.

Job Summary - a concise overview of the job
The Quality Associate II, Batch Record Review, has demonstrated competence in reviewing Batch Production Records (BPRs) to ensure compliance to procedural requirements. This includes compilation and review of all analytical, validation, deviations and regulatory documentation required for the release of product to market.
Based on the review and compilation of all documentation provides in-process release and final product review and/or release. In addition, maintains product retains as well as annual inspections of retains for regulatory filings or as needed. Reviews BPRs with attention to detail in order to identify problems, errors or issues with the records.
Has solid working knowledge and skills in practices, procedures, and techniques in the Batch Record process. Identifies deviations from procedures, tracks and provides BPR metric results as required. Communicates to multiple departments and supervision to ensure timely correction of errors. Identifies and escalates issues or problems to appropriate supervision.
All incumbents are responsible for following applicable Division & Company policies and procedures.

The opening(s) is for a weekend shift:
- Saturday, Sunday, Monday (begins at 11pm Friday) OR Friday, Saturday, Sunday (begins at 11pm Thursday).
The Batch Processor - Cationic will operate cationic stripper and one component manufacturing. Assembles, weighs and charges raw materials to one component tanks.
Assembles, weighs, charges materials to blend tank(s) as required by batch ticket.
Orders and maintains raw materials for cationic blending/one component and transfers materials to proper area from storage locations, which may include use of outside fork truck.
Sets up filtering equipment, recycles batch for cleanliness, changes bags as needed, cleans equipment and reassembles for future use. Cleans, rebuilds and pre-coats Sparkler filters.
Transfers batches to/from tank wagons, thin tanks, stripper, batch tanks and storage tanks, unloads cationic bulk raw materials. Monitors level in all tanks and inspects hook-ups to ensure safe transfers. Inspects tanks before transfers to ensure empty and clean. Cleans tank wagons, hoses and pumps.
Collects batch samples and sends to lab.
Inspects containers for cleanliness and leaks. Containers must be properly labeled according to standards and weights.
Fills cationic products into drums, tote tanks, tank wagons or designated containers through proper filtering and filling equipment.
Cleans up equipment/work areas and performs miscellaneous duties related to the above title.
Communicates between shifts and other departments to ensure information is passed along.
Works with the leadership team in developing, reviewing and revising SOP's and the job skills checklists.
Follows all established plant safety, environmental and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Strong attention to detail
