Job Description: Bose is currently seeking a battery engineer to lead a cross-functional team to support new product development efforts incorporating batteries.
You will be responsible for designing battery systems for current and emerging Bose product categories. At Bose, you'll have the opportunity to join a world class engineering team and help revolutionize portable and wearable devices. You will design and execute experiments to characterize cells/packs, develop cell models, and manage collaborations with international cell/pack suppliers.
As a battery expert, you should be up to date with the advancement of battery technology and the cell/pack manufacturer landscape. Design tests to ensure that the battery systems are validated to design specifications. Create and maintain battery technology roadmap. Drive the development of collaborative industry efforts.
Knowledgeable of cell manufacturing. With the commodity team, identify viable suppliers, evaluate supplier capabilities, and assess technical performance. Conduct and coordinate failure analysis with Bose internal group and cell/pack vendor.
Requirements: Extensive battery cell knowledge required. Direct experience in battery cell R&D, extensive knowledge of rechargeable battery chemistries and testing methodology. In-depth understanding of rechargeable battery industry landscape.
At least 10 years of relevant work or research experience. Demonstrated ability to problem solving cell issues. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Fluent in Mandarin a plus. 15% travel to international manufacturing facilities expected. Write, modify, and create laboratory instructions and test plans, sometimes based on experience and with no customer guidance
Analyze testing data, including in Excel or MATLAB, and prepare testing reports for internal and external customers
Maintain multiple testing programs (to required scope, quality, and schedule) simultaneously
Interact with customers on technical discussions
Implement and/or execute new or unique test protocols

Required Education, Experience and

The Battery Product Development team at Apple produces high energy and highly reliable embedded battery systems for all product teams.
