Mold Builder - Welding
Capable of constructing, maintaining, and repairing basic rotational molds and fixtures. Meets quality and performance expectations. May require assistance in developing and producing mold components. Supports and troubleshoots tooling and production issues as part of the Roto Mold Team.
Reads blueprint to understand requirements and specifications. Refers to information throughout construction of mold or fixture.
Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.
Constructs new molds, constructs production fixtures and maintains existing molds using metal fabrication equipment including shears, saws, presses, lathes, and rollers.
M.I.G. welds new molds, existing molds, and fixtures from mild steel, stainless steel, and/or aluminum. Pre-heats metal with torch. Lays out, positions, and tack welds product. Welds various types of seams. Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
Smoothes and polishes mold interior surfaces using sander, grinder, and/or polisher.
Sand and glass bead blasts mold interior surfaces, as necessary.
Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
Identifies and executes improvements of molds and fixtures.
Once assembled, removes product by hand or forklift to other areas of the plant for additional finish work. Operates forklift and other material handling equipment as needed.
May use fabrication and welding skills to assist in custom fabrication of plant equipment.
Uses computer system to clock in and out of jobs and record any needed information.
Conducts housekeeping responsibilities including sweeping, putting away equipment as jobs are completed, etc.
Works as member of DHI Team, handling whatever assignments are necessary to meet production schedule. Assignments may include working in other divisions, etc.
Projects enthusiasm about the company through positive interactions with others, including internal and external customers.
Complies with company policies.

Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun
Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by Welding Engineer
Starts power supply to produce electric current
Strikes arc which generates heat to make and deposit metal from electrode to work piece and join edges of work piece
Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
Apply filler rod to supply weld metal
Clean or degrease weld joint or work piece, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath
Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces
Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter, using hand scraper or power chipper
Preheat work piece, using hand torch or heating furnace
Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture.
Tack assemblies together
Cut metal plates or structural shapes.
Observing and comply with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment

The Office of Regulatory Compliance has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Calendar Builder position.
Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.
At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and Development capacity.
This position works within the Clinical Research Administration Office (CRAO) and in collaboration with the Colorado Clinical Translational Science Institute. CRAO is seeking a full-time clinical trials Calendar Builder at the Anschutz Medical Campus. As a key member of the finance and clinical research support team, this position works extensively with budget specialists, clinical research coordinators, principal investigators, various stakeholders of the University of Colorado Cancer Center, University and University of Colorado affiliates, to assist with building of calendars in accordance with budgets in the OnCore Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS). This position will be responsible for the ongoing support of the calendar and budget build functions in OnCore.
Examples of work performed:
Stay up to date on all new and evolving institutional changes as they relate to policy, pricing, budgeting, etc. for clinical trial data captured in OnCore
This position supports the CRAO and its affiliates with calendar building and ongoing activities in the OnCore application
Build and configure electronic study calendars with budget details for clinical trial data capture in accordance with the terms of the protocol
Update OnCore protocol information as amendments occur to the protocol calendar/ budget
Develop prioritization schema to aid in workload management for calendar and budget build tasks
Perform system testing as directed and quality control of application functionality during application upgrades
Assist the help desk to support current customers who encounter problems or have questions
