Bed Manager - Bed Management @ HUP - Full Time - Rotating Shift
In collaboration with the Bed Manager Nurse, the Bed Manager facilitates emergent transfers from physician offices, external facilities and within Penn Medicine (e.g., Emergency Room, Operating Room, etc.). They place the reservation in EPIC and communicate admission needs to the care team and place patients in appropriate service specific locations.
Serve as the UPHS ambassador and facilitator for all inter facility transfers.
Develop and retain an in-depth understanding of the acute care inter facility transfer policies and procedures at all UPHS hospitals.
Coordination of Pre Admission financial assessments with the appropriate UPHS facility to insure.
Pre-certification and insurance requirements are met.
Serves as the primary contact for all routine bed requests from all portals of entry.
Documents bed requests in the EPIC system as necessary.
Supports patient flow by serving as the primary data entry point for all bed assignments.
Acts as the communication hub for the facility in regards to all bed assignments and patient placements.

Supports The Admission Center in clerical and clinical functions.
Registers patients in the EPIC system as necessary.

This role is responsible for placing patients in clinically appropriate beds based on their level of required care. Coordinates the flow of patients through the facility. Assigns patients to beds based on bed availability, care needed, and patient type. Arranges for patient transfers or admission as needed. May act as a liaison with scheduling to ensure adequate levels of staff on duty. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

Providence is calling a Certified Nursing Assistant II (Swing Bed, Variable, 0.6 FTE) to Providence Seward Medical Center in Seward, AK.
This is a part-time position which will include 24 hours per week & benefits.
The Certified Nursing Assistant II assists patients with activities of daily living and selective procedures delegated and communicated by licensed nurse (RN or LPN). These activities focus on maintaining a safe, hazard free, clean environment which facilitates patient focused care. Position provides care for Acute Care / ER and Swing Bed settings. May provide care in outpatient clinic settings as well.
In this position you will:
Possess knowledge of the Hospital and National Patient Safety Goals.
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with the RN or other caregivers regarding patient issues, family issues, MD issues, equipment, and dietary needs to ensure team success.
Assist in the patient admitting, transfer, and discharge procedure.
Check and restock supplies and emergency equipment and replaces as instructed.
Measure and record vital signs, weights, bowel records, meal and fluid intake, admission paperwork, and other required documentation in the electronic medical record.
Assist with and/or perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as outlined and assigned by the care plan and with appropriate training.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Completed training as a Certified Nursing Assistant
Must hold a current State of Alaska CNA certification
Must hold a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
New CNA graduates and candidates that hold a current, unencumbered nurse assistant certification or registration from another U.S. state must obtain the State of Alaska certification within 4 months of hire
Current ServSafe food handlers' certification within 4 months of hire
Minimum of 6 months of health care experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Process Technician /Mechanic - Fluid Bed Technologies
The Fluid Bed Technologies Process Technician will drive equipment reliability efforts on all Fluid Bed and support technologies across Somerset Operations.
Key responsibilities will include monitoring, troubleshooting and executing preventative maintenance activities alongside identifying areas of improvement with an emphasis on increasing equipment availability/uptime and maximizing productivity. The successful candidate will also will work closely with cross functional team members to provide support and collaboration for future engineering projects.
Ownership on equipment reliability across Fluid Bed technologies across a smaller to larger scale (5kg to 250kg) as well as Granulation equipment and ancillary support equipment
Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and electronic control systems and PLC based systems utilizing equipment schematics and specialized testing equipment
Perform necessary repairs to equipment on a periodic and as needed basis
Perform preventative maintenance scheduled services for all equipment
Drive proactive efforts to improve equipment uptime and reduce failures across key operational assets
Assure compliance to GMP's, SOP's, FDA, DEA and OSHA rules and regulations.
Able to balance multiple issues simultaneously in a fast pace environment.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment availability to maximize production output and efficiencies
Show a bias for action and demonstrate a can-do attitude by being a self-starter with demonstrated passion.
Support equipment related investigations to ensure a culture of Continuous Improvement.
Maintain compliance for PPE at the equipment and its vicinity through personal compliance and supervision for compliance by other personnel near the packaging equipment.
Ensure timely review and completion of non-routine maintenance activities (NRM's).
Co-ordinate with Calibrations on maximizing unit uptime and efficiencies
Work with Technical Operations to identify failure modes of equipment and maintenance strategies to mitigate impact of failure.
Candidate must have an background of Electrical/Mechanical technologies with Fluid Bed Experience
Five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience working in the pharmaceutical industry in GMP Manufacturing or Engineering.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair both major and minor pieces of processing equipment using
High School and/or Technical School Engineering Certification
Working knowledge of shop practices and hand tools
Experience in troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical or PLCs as needed.
Communicate effectively with internal and external customers and vendors

Job Summary: Central Bed Controller will coordinate patient placement and flow for all legacy (HH, CG, WS) inpatient campuses to guarantee the most appropriate and timely placement based upon admission criteria.
The patient flow coordinator will work very closely with the legacy house supervisors to ensure appropriate placement. The Central Bed Controller will triage transfers, admissions and collaborate with the system site supervisors when there is a need to move patients to a higher level of care facility within UPMC Pinnacle.
