The incumbent will work closely with the HPC Program Coordinator providing medical care as a part of the Hospice and Palliative Care (HPC) team.
Provide services, clinical input and oversight for all patient treatment plans consistent with hospice and palliative care philosophy.
Consult with attending staff as requested so that symptom management for patients is effectively and expeditiously accomplished. Participation in on-call coverage for the Hospice and Palliative Care Service.
Process improvement, program development, and policy decisions related to Hospice and Palliative Care Service.
Candidate must be self-motivated, and willing to take the initiative to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.

Nurse Practitioner Qualifications:

The CCNE accredits bachelors and masters degree programs. (b) [The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. In these programs, students are given a certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX and should submit this certification to VA prior to appointment.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
A nurse practitioner must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State, possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the ACEN or CCNE, and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. The certification must be in Geriatrics from American Nurses Association (ANA) to which the individual is being appointed or selected.
Preferred Experience: Two (2) years of experience in Hospice/Palliative care or Geriatrics Care setting preferred.
